Suitcase, what’s that?!?! We have 3 of these, 2 large, one small. Despite having high quality/expensive luggage- THESE are our go to for travel. You’ll be amazed at how much you can fit in one. As a carry on, it’s perfect for overhead bins and being a backpack, your hands are free in airports (or wherever) to use your devices etc. Spend the money, the bag is 1000% worth it!!! The durability is spectacular, my husband is a pilot and his gets abused a bit more than mine, but is in equal great shape!!

Very happy with this Swissgear backpack! I purchased it for a ten day trip in France and I was very pleased with how well it held up. I was a bit rough with it and filled it to almost bursting (I used it as my personal item so I could use a guitar as my carry-on and only had to check a few things in a small bag. I did use packing cubes which helped immensely, but if I had packed a bit more minimally, I think I could have even avoided having to check a bag). It's definitely small, much smaller than American carry-on guidelines, but pretty well organized. I really love that it can open all the way around and acts as a mini suitcase. A couple of "secret" pockets are super useful. I also appreciated that it always fit fine under the seat while flying, even on the smaller planes where the under-seat storage wasn't as roomy. I had no problems in Europe with it, either, even though their policies for size are a bit stricter. I also used this bag every day in France, for daily excursions and trips to the beach. After lots of use, several flights and finally getting home, it still seems to be in perfect condition. I'm looking forward to using it even more now as a laptop backpack when I need it, since I love the olive green color. One thing that could maybe be better, though not a deal breaker for me, is just the comfort of the straps and the air flow. It was just ok in that regard. Additionally, the way the front organizer pocket opens on the side, with the compartment pockets placed sideways, is a bit annoying. I put smaller things in there for convenience and kept worrying about them falling out when the bag was upright (nothing did get lost, and you can turn the bag on it's side to help with this, I just didn't love it). Otherwise, though, very happy with this purchase!

I travel a lot for work and I needed a laptop backpack that was not too heavy. I am 5 foot 9, and it fits my back nicely. The backpack has a laptop sleeve that can be accessed from the side which is handy going through TSA at the airport. There is a nice lined top pocket for sunglasses. I fit my full size laptop, 2 phones, Kindle, snack, light jacket and wallet with no problem. The water bottle holder is nice and tall (water bottle does not fall out.). I would buy this backpack again.

Husband is a Large and fits three pants, two shorts, 3 T's, 2 button ups, sandals, toiletries, laptop, charger, camera, sunglasses, etc... (Sometimes has to remove laptop to fit in smaller planes overhead)

Recently traveled to central america with my new swiss gear backpack-- one of my two "carry-on" items on a JetBlue flight. Backpack performed well-- cavernous main compartment and lots of handy little compartments including a passport pocket. I kept a full change of clothing, a jacket, a laptop and lots of personal items in the backpack-- and didn't fill it to more than 50% capacity. I used both straps as I hiked around cities, jungle, farmland and volcanoes. The backpack was extraordinarily comfortable and sturdy. I also appreciated the subdued color as I exited the airport-- I felt the bag was less of a target to thieves. Highly recommend. Note-- my only issue is that I owned a previous version of this swissgear pack-- the passport pocket had been labeled as "RFID protected." The passport pocket on this newer model is not labeled RFID protected...

This pack has gotten me through a month long trip in Europe from the US and served me well for the price of the product. I will say that there is very little airflow through the back and there is very little support in the back. No straps around the front of the body do make the weight distribution a little tougher on your shoulders but again, for the price, it served me well. I would say that if you’re just looking for an inexpensive pack to give you a start into carryon only travel and you don’t plan on wearing the pack for long periods of time, this is a great bag. Otherwise, I might turn my eye to a different product.

This is pretty close to what I was looking for -- a super-durable cross between a suitcase and a backpack. It should be made of thicker material, with more rugged zippers. It needs a slightly roomier outer pocket that zips open all the way. The laptop pocket should be in the middle rather than right next to the back. I'm keeping it because I don't travel enough to put it to a severe test.

So much space! I’m an over-packer, so this bag helps me pack as much as I need to feel prepared while also being well-organized and suited to be compact; I didn't have to use the expander and still could’ve fit another outfit. Favorite features include the hard glasses pocket, the usability and space of the exterior pocket and the east to carry handles. And the straps, on the exterior, that you tighten to further pack it down. Will recommend for the traveler who aims to be convenient, a little indulgent, and needs something that can double as a carry on or suite case... looks great, works great, and this will be my go-to over my rolling samsonite carry-on.
