Description

The SWISSGEAR 1900 is the backpack that handles the full workload. I spent more time than I would care to admit looking for a solid backpack, but good ones are expensive and I didn't feel like buying a few to try then return. I wanted a backpack for my office job to carry my tablet, laptop, work binders/folders, blender shaker bottles, and small knick-knacks to and from work and between different offices. These were my requirements: - Holds my laptop in a sleeve (preferably padded/protected) - Tablet sleeve big enough to hold my Kindle Scribe Colorsoft - Stylish and slim with plenty of room - Good quality without breaking the bank - Side water bottle cup holders with straps to hold down my insulated blender bottle shakers - Plenty of pockets for smaller items (gum, chargers, charging blocks, pens, etc.) - Something I could use for an overnight or couple day trip I hated it for the first 20 minutes I owned it because I thought it did not have a general large interior compartment area with folder dividers as shown in the product images. However, I quickly realized the zipper track blended in too well with the bag and I simply missed it (it's right in front of the larger top handle). This backpack nailed it. Even the tablet compartment hold my kindle scribe securely, though I'll likely only use that when traveling as it's a tad too snug. The only thing I don't care for is how the laptop compartment is only a side entrance zip and the "sleeve" is a plush arm that secures the laptop in place with velcro that you have to remove and reattach every time you move your laptop in it. That seems a bit odd and is slightly tedious to do, but I assume it's for easy access; they should really include that in the pictures of the product. Also, I understand that the backpack essentially zips in half to open up 180 degrees for quick airport security laptop checks, but I almost never fly, so that may be useless to me. I've read other reviews that claim the bag opens up on its own because of this feature. I've only had it a week so far but that hasn't happened to me yet and I don't see how it would unless the bag was packed full and only partially zipped shut. Overall I love this bag, it meets all of my requirements and then some. It also redistributes the weight well due to its longer size, so more weight in the bag somewhat feels like less. This is well made and durable. It is designed well, so there are many pouches/pockets to hold things. It is small enough to fit under an airline seat and has a padded "backplate" to make it a comfortable backpack for me to wear through airports and on a plane and contain my laptop, SLR, and power cords as well as my Dopp kit and a change of clothes. Great quality. The zippers are smooth and feel durable. If anything, the scan smart thing adds some bulk that isn't actually usable space though. It's not quite as roomy as it looks because of that, but there's still a huge main pocket. Very comfortable to wear. Strurdy and robust but lightweight. Everything fits in nicely: computer, keayboard, cables, powerbanks, mice, camera, recorder, headphones and there is enough room left for change of clothing for two or three days (underwear and t shirts, this is no magic pouch). I have used this bad boy since 2015. It has flown I don't know how many miles for typically weekend trips. No, I don't take anything but essentials, but this pack is strong and it holds more than you can imagine. It has holders on both sides for water or whatever else. I like using the front pocket for my cell phone, keys and wallet when going through TSA lines. It's really good for experienced business travelers, as the laptop portion is pretty good. I take a cushioned mousepad along and wrap it along whatever part of the pc is on the bottom to protect it from damage. Highly recommended. ... show more

Great backpack. Roomier than I thought it would be. Also seems very durable and the straps are easily adjustable. The back padding amazing. If puts pressure in all of the right spots and actually breathes so my back isn't all sweaty. I've rucked and hiked with several different backpacks over the years and never felt something this comfortable on my back. I know it's not made for hiking necessarily, but I think I've found my newest hiking bag. I currently use it for work and I carry a lot with me so it has to be versatile and durable. So far so good. My work laptop was upgraded from a 15" to a 17" model which just wouldn't fit in my current SwissGear pack which I've had for over a decade. The brand is high quality, well produced, and durable. Never had an issue with my current one that I've used both for my work commute and travel, so when it came time to look for something that could carry the new laptop, I looked to SwissGear. The only real issue I had was the pocket arragnement having an exclusive laptop carry section to make travel through TSA checkpoints easier, but as I don't intend to take my worklaptop on trips (vacation) I didn't need that - but all their existing bags are designed this way it seems. No biggie as there's ample room in the bag for the stuff I noramally carry to/from work and added side pockets are nice as are the very well padded straps and back.
