  • Easy to use
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
Easy to use. Good quality. The only reason I didn't give it a four star is because sometimes you have to put the papers in a few times to trigger it to staple. I do like that it doesn't have to be plugged in, but you have the option to if you would like.

  • This model, 48208 is exactly what I wanted.
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
I chose Swingline Optima 20, Model 48208, jam-free, because my first one (Model 45) ran perfectly for many years. The replacement was designed to staple up to 20 sheets, Good enough for a small office. Built-in way to make sure you don't try to staple more than the 20 sheets. Nice. Heavy enough to grab my desk and not slide somewhere. It holds a full sized staple stack, no chopping to get it smaller than standard. Some say it's too noisy. Humbug, it sounds about right. Nice always on orange light to blink when I will soon need a staple stack replacement. Built-in storage drawer for more staples. Easy adjustment to choose the staple location from the page edge. Forget installing batteries, plug into 110 and let it just sit there on your desk. Even has a built-in staple remover in a back little drawer. My only gripe is that when you need staples inserted, you push a button on the back of the stapler. The stapler holder, supposed to slide forward in the front, won't move, because it's so new. Friction. Grabbed a pliers, and pulled the slider drawer forward. WD 40 on the side of the staple tray holder should fix this. Every office needs one of these wonderful things. The other similar model 48207, is cheaper, but the 48208 higher quality and features are well worth the price difference. Be careful when choosing the 48208, even Amazon sometimes has typed in 48207 in a description. Jam-free Swingline staples are worth the $5 for a whole bunch of them, nicely packaged. Throw away your old staples. Live it up. My old bang-on-it hand stapler from 1938 is now on a garage shelf. ... show more

  • New by but seems to get the job done well, won't work with rechargeable batteries
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
I liked the colors (black, silver, orange) and design so I purchased to replace the manual Swingline stapler that I had for ~ 3 decades. Dimensions (footprint) are ~9" L x2" W x 2.75" H, should space be a problem. It weighs 14.9 oz, short of a pound, a comfortable weight for me, with arthritis. The silver feels like plastic. The black is a rubbery cushiony surface that ensures a non-slippery grip with a good feel if using in grip mode. I used it for awhile with the AC adapter with no problems. The port to the staple is in the rear below the button to release the staple tray. I then switched to batteries (4-AA). As per the ad, it does not work with rechargeable batteries. The door to the battery bin is in the back on the belly of the stapler, the latch was a little difficult at first, but it not a problem now. Of course I didn't read the manual, but there is a diamond on the door that points towards the back, but one has to pull the lever towards the front to open. Button in the back easily opens the tray for staples. I used Swingline standard staples, which worked fine, and easy to load. The staples I have are 4" long, and the staple takes about 2.5". There are two orange lines in the front to give guidance as to where the staples are (width), to not miss the paper. Performance wise it will do 20 sheets easily with the Swingline standard staples, which are 4/16" tall. It seems to have adequate power to go through 20 sheets easily. It is probably a little noisier than the manual stapler, seems like a "standard" noise, not an irritating sound, just the expected electric staple sound. No other electric stapler to compare to. On the auto mode you can have the stapler on the desk top and push the paper in to staple, the depth if you go gentle is ~1/2" deep into the paper. If you go more quickly and forcefully you might get to ~3/4" and on grip mode about 1-1/4" deep. Grip mode requires pressing the front of the black rubber, like with your thumb while holding the pages. Overall pleased, I wish it would work with recharge batteries, hence a 4-star rating. Hit the helpful button if you found the additional measurement and details helpful, it's motivation to do these experiments for this great community. Thank you for reading! ... show more

  • Works pretty good
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
It works good but a lot of the time you have to readjust the paper before it will staple

  • Not the best Swingline
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
I’m a bit disappointed with my new stapler. I bought it as a replacement for the last Swingline electric stapler that I used for 7 years. This model is not as strong as the old one. It cannot staple 20 pages as advertised and don’t plan to use it with batteries. It’s too weak.

  • Great stapler, so easy to use
Style: 20 Sheet (Orange Trim)
This type of stapler I have used in a busy tax office with several pages to staple, I have recently purchased for my officev where I am now. Have had it so far over a month and with the Optima staples I still have yet to experience a staple jam. I can even staple more than twenty pages but the back side of the staples can't obviously finish folding with more than the recommended pages. But if I have 22 pages, I am going to try to get them all in one bunch. I am looking now into the larger capacity for those thicker bunches, but for small 2-10 pages, it works like a dream saving my wrist from repeated clinching of a manual stapler. Works over and over no problems. It is also not very loud, and keeps you working quickly and efficiently. Battery usage is great too. Requires 6 AA batteries and still strong like it's plugged into power. Many times I have to take it with me to the copier and it works just as good away from power. Not to mention it is so sleek. I thought this one had the "cylon" type blink to let you know it's out of staples but I think that is the other model. I accidentally ordered this one but have been very happy with it. The only cons I have found is no blink to let me know I am out of staples and it won't take a full stick of staples. Other than that, it's a great little stapler very handy for couponing, or bills, any kind of every day paperwork, but I highly recommend purchasing the staples that are made for it. You can easily find them as a cheap add on item here on Amazon. ... show more
