  • Great staples FOR THE RIGHT STAPLER!!! (Not For Optima [orange/grey] or metal-black #77701)
Style: 60 Sheet
Take note that these are made for 'Heavy Duty' Staplers, as noted in the bullet points. An example of this is the grey stapler with the large handle that comes up in 'frequently bought together'. However these staples will NOT work in the Swingline Optima staplers (orange and grey), nor will they work in the all-black, metal stapler - model #77701. The reason is because they are too thick for those models. This brings us to some rocket science in staples. There are three levels of staples. There are standard staples -- standard in length of legs and thickness. Then there are staples which have longer legs -- for more sheets -- for example 70 sheets. However, in order to have the leverage to go through all those sheets, they must be thicker as well. Then there are staples that are even longer -- with legs up to 3/4" to accommodate about two hundred sheets! These tables must be even thicker than their 70-sheet counterparts! Thus, once again, there are three categories. The reason you need the correct size staple, is because the 'hammer' which forces them in, is of an exact thickness -- and the space where the staple exits, and, if the staples is too thick, it will jam; too thin, and two will 'try' to get out at a shot, also leading to a jam. Now, the problem is that there isn't a clear, uniform rating for the three level of staples. Even the words 'high capacity' and 'heavy duty' are not used uniformly across the board with both staplers and staples. Thus, for every stapler and/or box of staples you are looking into, you will have to find the corresponding one; and an incorrect size will simply not work! You can find specifics imprinted inside the staple-slot or on the base. It would also be in the stapler documentation, and likely found also further down the page, here - by product information (with pictures). I guess all this is growing pains, and will eventually be sorted out. ... show more

  • Staples work fine in my mando stapler; packaging stunk
Style: 90 Sheet
The item is often packed in a larger box, and not held in place by (for example) air pillows. The result is when the item is "dropped off", the box of staples is moved around sharply. Because the box is relatively fragile and the staples heavy, the box containing the staples is broken open and the staples scattered around. A pain, but I was able to reassemble the box and gather and load the staples in the box in about 12 minutes. This should not happen, but it is not the worst thing to pass by today. ... show more

  • Defective - Avoid
Style: 160 Sheet
A stapler is like an extension cord. It works or it does not. This particular product or the staples purchased with it are defective, plain and simple. It jams. Before going on vacation I more than once tried to communicate that the items sent were defective, but I was not given the courtesy of a reply, much less instructions on returning for a replacement. Note: I bought a large supply of Swingline Staples at the same time as the stapler. So, there is no issue, from my prospective, that cheap alternate staples caused the jamming. Very disappointed with the seller and Amazon. ... show more

  • Used and didn't fit.
Style: 60 Sheet
When I recieved my "Swingline Staples, Heavy Duty, 3/8" Length, 60 Sheet Capacity, 100/Strip, 5000/Box, 1 Pack (79398) " They looked as if they had been used or thrown around. When I tried them in my Swingline 2-60 stapler they were difficult to insert and would not index to the anvil. My guess is they were previously sold and returned then resold to me. This seems to be a pattern with amazon, in the last 30 days I have had to make 5 returns. Repeatedly I buy products that are highly rated and end up being defective or of very poor quality. So much so that lost confidence in their rating system and I have decided to stop using Amazon. I recommend that you do the same. ... show more

  • Must Buy!
Style: 90 Sheet
Tired of collated pages getting mixed up in the wind? Want to join multiple pages into a single collection? If you are looking for the best quality staple on the market, this is the one for you! Ok, really, they are staples. They do what they're supposed to do. Why pick these over another brand? Not sure there is a reason. Just pick the staple that will fit your needs and has the best price. ... show more

  • I have to staple them out and waste them. Other than that
Style: 90 Sheet
Most people would probably not care, but these staples are just a tad thicker than they used to be. When I insert into my old rear-load Swingline heavy duty stapler, the staples don't slide back out. This leaves me in a bind when I need to use a different size staple for more pages. So now I have to use these only in my front-load Rapid stapler, because I can lift the unused ones out of there. Or if I know I only need X number of this size, I break off the strip and make it smaller. And if there are any left, I have to staple them out and waste them. Other than that, they actually staple just fine. ... show more

  • Heavy Duty Staples for Heavy Duty Stapler!!
Style: 60 Sheet
It's not until you have had staples that don't work that you understand why these get 5 starts. They simply do the job. Every time! These are for the Swingline Heavy Duty Staplers. Makes sense. These are not the same as the heavy duty "Optima" staples. Those will not work in your Heavy Duty Stapler even though they come in more reasonable size packages and say heavy duty. Trust me it's cheaper to just get 5000 and throw half away then to buy those other ones. But do yourself a favor and get a thing of scotch tape while you are ordering cause you will have to tape up the box as soon as you get it. The staples are heavy duty, not the box. And lets face it, with 5,000 staples, you are going to have the box for a while so just tape it now. ... show more

  • Frustratingly snug fit
Style: 60 Sheet
I've been using my heavy duty stapler and heavy duty staples for years. I used these 3/8 staples on my heavy duty swingline stapler last week and they stapled great, but I had a different problem. They wouldn't slide back out of the stapler when I tried to take them out and put in a different size staple. They fit too snugly. This is a problem I've never had before, and I have no clue what I'm going to do about it. I'd hate to staple through and waste the rest of the strip all the time. Thankfully they're not too snug on my Rapid HD stapler, but I keep that one at home and not at the office. I guess if you usually only use one size staple, this wouldn't be a problem. But I'm stapling anywhere from 25-180 pages on any given day and need to swap out the staples often. ... show more
