After one too many lectures (and procedures) from my dermatologist, I am now a wearing a hat or cap in the sun kinda gal. I never thought headgear looked good on me. But neither do skin conditions caused by the direct sunlight! This cap initially appealed to me with its ease of folding up to pack away when not wearing. This does in fact fold nicely and compactly enough to be tossed into a bag, backpack or even waist pack or mid sized purse. Big plus for me as one of my excuses for not previously wearing headgear is “What do I do with it when I’m indoors or not out in the sun?” Does it fold completely flat? No but close enough. The chin strap I have a bit of love/dislike relationship. Another of my excuses for not wearing headgear is what happens when it gets windy? I dislike having to hang onto my hat so to speak. With this handy dandy chin strap, not only do my ears get some sun protection but if the wind starts up, I can just snap the clasp and not have to worry about the ifs and hows of potentially having to go chase after my errant cap. I also like how the clasp is a bit off center as opposed to directly under my chin. Much more comfortable! Here’s the part of the chin strap that I don’t so much love. I wish there were some way or place to perhaps snap it out of the way at those times when you may not want to have this cap firmly in place. Best I can figure (and it looks a bit wonky, is to snap it above the top to keep it out of the way. Not fashionable but it’ll do. My likes of this cap greatly outweigh my dislikes so it is what it is. Breathability flaps help with cooling off and an added feature which I don’t see listed anywhere is that there are built in straps where one can secure ones sunglasses (or regular glasses I suppose) atop ones head when not wearing it. Love that! I think I’ll get myself a couple more of these hats in different colors (I wish there were even more colors…brighter actually) so that I can keep a cap in my car, in my travel bag, etc. I need to keep that dermatologist happy afterall. This may not be the most fashion forward accessory but on practical use, it gets the job done!

This hat is nicely designed. I like the split bill that allows the hat to be packed easily for traveling. The material is perfect for quick drying after any water adventure. My only complaint is about the sizing. I normally wear a 7-1/2-inch hat/cap, which is the size noted in the listing. However, the hat is rather snug on me and the mesh ear coverings on the chin strap only cover the top of my ears. That’s a bit awkward. If the hat size I received is the same for all colors, then someone who wears a hat slightly smaller than a 7-1/2 will have a much better fit.

A nice well made baseball cap with innovations for water sports. The covered vents on the top sides of the cap provide nice cooling while keeping you covered. They are like the vents on high end fishing shirts. The bill is long providing a lot of cover from the sun. There is a seam down the middle of the bill and it helps with folding up the cap and adjusting it to your preference while wearing it. The upper part of the chin strap on mine is black, and not the color shown, but not a big deal. The strap when not buckled up under the chin, can be worn behind the head, or folded up inside the hat. I have had enough hats go overboard to really appreciate how secure the chin strap keeps the cap on my head when conditions get breezy. I haven't got it wet yet, but the material looks similar to bucket sun hats and should dry quickly. A lot better drying than standard cotton or blend baseball caps.

lightweight cap (desirable for this design, I don't mean not durable I mean thin and light - which you want for a sun hat) **Standout : One really cool feature to pack it flat, the structure of the bill has a longitudinal "hinge" so you can fold the bill without distorting it...clever. I wish all my billed hats had that we are on boats a lot and wife is involved with a lot of watersports so this thing is nice. it's secure and dries well and is comfortable. While this was sent to me for review, I take that job seriously. Getting people the wrong product is wasteful, irresponsible and a hassle for everyone.Not everything I review gets high marks -- BTW, I live in a high sales tax state, review items aren't exactly at-no-cost for me]

All of the sunblock in the world isn't going to stay on your face if you surf for a couple of hours. It just wears off quickly. This hat won't fail me though. The chin strap will keep it in place and the visor will keep the sun off of most of my face. I'll still make sure that I wear sunblock on my lips. I noticed that this hat is made from quick dry material and has a nice strap to keep it on your head. It seems like a great addition to my surfing gear, especially for mid-summer sunny days. Skin cancer isn't going to get me.
