No inside padding for ankles
I'll start off by saying these are decent overall quality skates. My issue with these skates is the lack of padding on the inside. There isn't any, at all, outside of the padding on the bottom (inserts). The suede material is extremely stiff and and after wearing these in my house for an hour, rolling around a bit on them but mostly sitting, my ankle bones were hurting. I took the boots off and they were very red. I was wearing thick Dickies socks but it didn't matter at all. I can't imagine anyone doing any serious skating with these and not having the same issue unless they wore gel inserts to protect the ankle bone. However, if I'm going to spend $250 on a pair of skates, I expect them to have at least some kind of padding on the inside. Genuine leather or ever faux/vegan leather has give to it. This material does not and the insides are stiff and rough. Just think if I was skating outside at any real distance with some vigor and not just casually up and down the hallway of my house. If you like ankle blisters, these skates are fine for you, but if don't, buy a different pair with proper interior padding. I purchased the "fame" roller skates (same brand) from a different website for $170 and they're much more comfortable all around than these. They "feel" better too. I know these skates are rated high in many places but I can't see how. Maybe I just have wide feet and big ankle bones. I'm a 6'0 200 lb athletic male for reference. Depending on how hard of an outside surface you plan on skating, I'd recommend the 65 mm 78A boardwalk wheels as opposed to the 82a that these come with. If you're on a very hard surface with no pebbles and limited roughness these wheels would be fine. If you buy these skates, I'd definitely add gel ankle protectors of some kind. Great skates, poor customer service.
We purchased the skates and they arrived in time for Christmas. Sadly they were a little heavier than our son could handle, so we returned them. Happy skates processed the refund no problem, but kept $100 of the purchase amount with no explanation. Be sure you receive the skates you need or go elsewhere. ... show more
