  • For A Very Specific Kind of Group
Superfight is a great game. I donated to the original kickstarter years ago but, alas lost all my cards save for the promotional LootCrate deck in a move. Getting the second edition is so lovely, I missed the game. The second edition is a neat update on a classic. The purple and blue cards, for scenarios and locations, are now gone with the concepts being sort of married into the black cards. It does make things a little more streamlined. Overall, though, it's the same game with a bit more polish. The included chaos die is a special bit of fun, though I do wish there weren't an 88 on one of the sides as it can rather bring down the mood and incline those of a certain mindset to make uncomfortable jokes. I also wish there were more white cards but that's what expansion packs are for should they prove to be needed. This is not a game for people who are pedantic about rules or who will show favoritism toward specific players. It's just a way to have a good time playing pretend and debating the martial capabilities of a ninja piloting a hang glider as they apply to fighting a swarm of bees made of gold. It's very easy to develop your own rules and I quickly came up with a two-player version that's a variant of The Oldest Game from Sandman. This will definitely see regular rotation at my table as it's simple, funny, and provides endless opportunities for creativity. ... show more

  • Silliest fight game in the universe
So, where else can you find out who will win the fight between Mr. Rogers wearing a beanie with working helicopter blades, in a truck with a machine gun in the back being fired by God, vs. 3.1415 Statues of Liberty who can throw an unlimited supply of bears? I know that this is the kind of thing that can keep you awake all night, worrying. Now you and your friends can work out the answer! Playtime is best with three or more players, although even two can have a fun time. It takes about 15 minutes to play a round—but you may extend that for a couple of hours. The game is recommended for age 14+, but anyone 8+ can have fun with it. This is the Second Edition, with new characters and abilities—and rules variations—and an added wacky die (a dodecahedron with 0, 1, 10, 101, 1K, 1M, 24, 42, 88, -3, π, and infinity). The normal play is for the winner of the fight to stay to fight the next opponent. To avoid having someone winning with a ridiculously overpowered character, I recommend having the winner make new rolls and draw new side characters to replace the ones they had in the previous fight. The game is printed in China for a U.S.-based company. The game mechanic is ridiculous arguments, funny discussions, and non-sequiter debates. Any player consistently winning this game can have a successful career as a used car salesman—or a politician. I highly recommend this for parties or holiday play, for family or friends. ... show more

  • Party Game
If you are looking for a game with high strategy, ala Euro style games, keep looking. This is not a strategic game. However, if you need an ice breaker type of party game, this fits the bill. We played this with a group of tweens and teens, and this definitely fit the bill of laughs and getting everyone talking. It isn't a game I would reach for, as I do actually prefer Euro style games. However, as a tool to get kids to break the ice and start talking and having fun? Worth it. ... show more

  • BUY THIS GAME
This game is SUPER fun. We played it with our game night friends, and the whole table was cracking up all night. You don’t have to be an experienced table top player to enjoy it though, you just need to be able to read and have a general idea of current American society. In short you choose a character card, this is your fighter. Then you choose a couple characteristic cards, which are the fighter’s “powers”. I included a picture of one: the fighter is “Everyone on Etsy” and their power is that they “feel no pain”. This fighter faces off with another fighter. So “Everyone on Etsy who doesn’t feel pain” “fights” another character determined by cards. And the people at the table discuss who would win (this determines the outcome of the fight). The real joy is in the card writing; it is very funny snd clever. The variety of characters and things they can do are HILARIOUS. Then it just gets sillier as you discuss which of these ludicrous characters would win in a fight. It is super fun, ridiculous, and light hearted. I also added a picture of the “megafighter” card in which every limb is another character. This game kept us entertained all night. We completely recommend it and will make it part of our regular rotation. I think kids would enjoy it too. ... show more

  • Easy enough to lower the age range...
Though labeled as an 'Ages 14+' game I found a quick flip-through and culling of some of the more... controversial?... and obscure cards can quickly lower it to more around 8+. By and large these are cards no one will miss, though some older tables might appreciate... at least for another few years. Quality seems decent enough. Though the cards don't feel all that substantial they took to a riffle shuffle well enough. The dice is, if I'm not mistaken, a new addition to this edition. Interesting, but seldom used. I might more have appreciated a less wacky dice and higher frequency of its use. The included instructions to me came off more as a suggestion more than hard-and-fast rules. Playing at a table with three, including an nine year old, we quickly determined we needed to homebrew our own ruleset for maximum fun. With all that out of the way, maybe you can settle something for us? Croc Dundee with a harpoon gun and the most beautiful face in history (I mean, duh...) vs a neanderthal without bones in an Abrams M1 tank. Dundee just wins... right? No way a caveman is going to be able to operate the tank, with or without bones! ... show more
