I am totally satisfied with my Shredder figure. He holds a place of honor standing next to my computer monitor. I'm not really great at writing reviews so all I can say is that I'm a lifelong fan of TMNT and especially the Shredder and I love this figure! Definitely my fave of all my Shred-Head figures. He glowers at me as he wields his blade even as I write this. Over all this is a figure so cool and posable that even his cloth cape can be posed to some degree! The basic conceit of these Ultimates figures from Super 7 is to, of course, do a modern interpretation of the original Playmates figures from 1988. They have overwhelming succeeded. In case you have never seen the original Shredder action figure, do a quick Google search of that figure, and you will understand why this Shredder is shirtless yet still caped! It was, in fairness, an odd design choice back in '88, but if Super 7 is going to stick to its mission statement for this line, then this is the Shredder you'll end up with. Super 7 even packs in the world's oddest secondary head - the same Shredder head, but with his eye brows painted over the brim of the helmet. Again, Google the original figure if you need a refresher. The paint applications are beautifully realized, especially that classic "toyetic" blue with the ever so slight sheen covering what should be metal. The legs match the original toy as well, which is to say they are mostly black and basic. The new sculpting is marvelously detailed of course, with impeccable musculature. The accompanying articulation allows for adequate possibility. Adequate, because the lack of double pinned elbows and knees is a tad missed, but the rocking swivel ankles are always a welcome consolation. Also, the lack of a diaphragm joint of any kind is somewhat disappointing. The dings against this figure aren't deal breakers. He is packed with an array of weapons and hands that add loads of playability. And, super neat modern bonus: two capes, one is hard plastic while the other is a tailored cloth cape with a posing wire! We have indeed grown up haven't we! ... show more
