Just feed it through the vent flaps behind the wheel mount, and connect to the harness inside the tailgate cover. Picture shows it in full sunlight for the worst case lighting scenario. Even brighter at night, of course. This is the "new" version with updated LEDs. EDIT: 3 MONTH UPDATE: Only 1/4 of the LED's are working on one side section and the rest have failed. Inexpensive and looks great when working. Company sent me a replacement unit for no charge, despite being outside the Amazon return window. Time will tell if it fails prematurely again. Meanwhile I put some adhesive around the edges to make it more watertight. ... show more

    • Does not fit 2020 JL's
Simply put, this does not fit the 2020 JL Jeep. 3 1/2 hrs to install, required modification. In 2020, the 3rd break light support structure has a new design. The supplied wire is much too thick to fit into the slot used for a wire channel. The thick insulation had to be sliced off to expose the 2 wires so they could be routed in the tight space. Without removing this outter insulation it is impossible to reassemble the break light support structure. Also with the 2020 Jeep's, the available space to run the wiring up to the break light plug is significantly smaller than on the 2018 or 2019. This extremely tight space leaves very little room to tuck the heavily insulated wire, extra unnecessary lenght and the bulky connector into the cavity. I am a mechanical engineer with 30 years of vehicle and equipment design and fabrication. This was one of the hardest modifications I have made to any of my vehicles and certainly the most frustrating. I am convinced that for the earlier models this install is a snap. For the 2020, it is quite an unpleasant adventure. ... show more
