  • Good fun and engagement for a family member with early Alzheimer’s
This is a review of the Electronic Table Reflex Game for Solo & 2-Player - Light-Up Memory Challenge Toy with 4 Fun Game Modes, Interactive Board Games, Gamer Gift for Kids Ages 6+, Teens & Adults It’s hard to find interest holding games suited to engage and challenge both children and adults, and suitable for solo or 2 person play. We are an active household with 3 kids and their friends, ranging in age from 9 to 18, who enjoy family games and challenges. After 8 years, the kids still enjoy Bop-It, and it’s been a godsend when a young relative with hyperactivity comes to visit. It’s always the first toy they seek out on arrive, yet holds their interest for hours. I ordered this electronic memory challenge game in anticipation of our extended family Christmas gathering where the age range runs from 6 to grandparent age. Finally, I have the perfect games to entertain them all- even when we makes teams to challenge one and all- with prizes for the winning teams. This game is more versatile than Bop It and more multi-dimensional than the old school, classic 80’s game Simon. It’s the perfect engagement toy without the brain overloading steady diet of video games. At less than $27.00 the focus holding hours of fun, challenge and creativity make this the BEST VALUE of the holiday season. All you need is a small Phillips head screw driver for opening the battery compartment, and 4 AA batteries for hours of 4 different game modes. Neither screw driver or batteries are included. Reviewer “Steve” has done the best review of each of the 4 game modalities, so I won’t repeat them here. My addition is to add my appreciation for its size and portability which makes it perfect for travel play and car rides. My only request for improvement would be the addition of a volume off/loudness control feature. This proved to be a suitable and engaging Christmas gift for a game loving family member with early Alzheimer’s remains interested in visual challenges. Once there is more mental compromise, they may still find the reflex and reaction games the most suited for their interests and skills. In buttons and lights engaging without need to focus on the memory component. If I can find a way to eliminate the game sounds, it may be perfect! I do wish there was a volume control/off capability. ... show more

  • Great quality but lacks volume control and decent instructions.
This feels like a good quality game device based on the buttons, the joysticks, the colorful LEDs, and general heft of the device. The thing that is lacking are decent instructions/pointers for playing the three different games. Most difficult is the third mode, which is the only game that also provides a two player option. There isn't any way to control the volume level so we applied a piece of tape over the speaker. The box it comes in has really nice foam inserts and the main power button is a slide switch on the bottom so I don't worry about it draining batteries in storage or on trips. The easiest game to learn is the reflex game but it is still a challenge to do well in as the timing is critical without options to change difficulty/sensitivity. This made it too challenging for our toddler to play, and even gives my wife and I a challenge. Based on that alone I would only recommend this device for kids over 8 who have the patience and determination to achieve victory with the challenge of these games. The second mode is memory which plays a note and lights the LEDs to show the sequence which is really great to help remember with both senses versus just a visual cue. The third mode is sort of a chase/race game that you have to move your selector/cursor, verify it flashes where a red arrow was, then click a lighted button that doesn't necessarily align with the cursor position. It took a bit to figure out the objective as the instructions did not help. This game can be one or two player unlike the others. I was hoping our toddler daughter would enjoy the reflex mode but she's not quite fast enough yet so unfortunately this will be sitting on a shelf for another year or two. Overall this is a really good quality toy but with the lack of volume control and decent game instructions for the third and fourth mode it gets docked a star. ... show more
