This thing has been *perfect* for my situation. Our landlord mows our lawn for us, and I previously had one of the classic triangular tie-out stakes that stick up about 8 or 10 inches from the ground. Despite having pointed it out to him, he mowed right over it and mangled it, and I can only assume it wasn’t great for the blades either. The lawn has been mowed 5 times since installing this one and I don’t think he even knows it’s there. Sometimes I have trouble finding it myself because it’s so flush with the earth and the grass grows right up around it. I only use it when I’m out there with my dog, just to free up my hands while doing stuff. She’s on a 25 foot retractable leash and I have a carabiner attached to the handle of the leash which makes it really easy to just clip the carabiner onto this ground anchor. The hinge-like design allows the leash to flip from side to side without tangling even if she runs in circles around it. -I’ve seen other reviews complaining about how hard it is to screw into the ground.- This is true IF you’re just doing it with your hands, but I used the L-shaped tire iron from my car, and with that amount of leverage it was SUPER easy to screw all the way down, (I got the 12”) and it is very securely in the ground. Nice bright yellow color so you can find it in the grass. Great for my dog, and I can lawnmower right over it! It’s made way better then the ones in the pet stores. Sturdy, high quality. I bought the longer size... goes into the ground easy if you pour water on the spot first, and then when you get down to the last few inches, you can use a long handled bar of any type ( I used a long handled screwdriver) and put it through the loop on top to twist it all the way down till it’s flush with the ground. Super easy with the water trick and handle for the last few inches! Buy this for your dog of any size! ... show more

Got this to be able to keep my 18 month old 60 pound standard poodle in the yard while working in the garden and it works great! Was fairly easy to install (used a 3 foot pry bar to screw it in). I love that the loop folds down so now issue when mowing the lawn. I got the 12" one and my dog hasn't budged it even when hitting the end of the rope at full speed ( and he can pull me down if I'm careful) and it only took a few days for him to realize how far he can go. I do recommend a harness when using-if the dog hits the end of the rope at full speed with only a collar danage could result. All in all and excellent product! ... show more

We have 2 of these and have to say. These work very well for us. Our dog is around 60lbs and hss no prob at all with it. It keeps him in our yard and he can do his business with no problems at all. Seems very sturdy, I don't have any concern about it breaking any time soon. The installation was difficult. The soil here isn't hard, so I was surprised it was so difficult. My wife tried to screw it in, but could only get it halfway in. I got it a couple more inches, then got gloves to not hurt my hands. After that I got it in another couple inches. It was still sticking out 2-3" and couldn't move it anymore by hand. Ended up getting a pole to insert in the top to get additional leverage, and finally sunk it fully into the ground. This was purchased to be able to tie down puppy outside of our fenced in yard when my son is riding his bike or scooter up and down the block. We always felt bad as she laid with her head under the gate wanting to be with her family. She is a larger breed, 6mo old, +70 lbs already. I needed a sturdy stake and this seemed perfect. Easy to drive into the ground, using a large screw driver as a leverage arm to ensure it is secure. It easily holds up to all her pulling force, it has been outside through a lot of the Chicago weather patterns and the paint is still holding strong, so it is easy to see when mowing the lawn ;-) Would buy another if needed. ... show more

Bought this to secure my German Shepard puppy. So far it hasn’t let me down. Very easy to screw into the ground. The last couple of inches I did have to use a long screwdriver to twist it.
