  • Aesthetician Review
Im a medical aesthetician with a background in esthetics treatments. So I’ve worked with all types of wax. Sugaring wax can be made in various of viscosities. This one in particular doesn’t need to be heated (your body temperature heats the sugar for you-faster if you run hot or low pain tolerance). This can be frustrating especially starting off. I will review certain points I believe are helpful to know as a professional or beginner. * STORAGE: This container is the worst I’ve worked with. I would definitely transfer the wax into a bigger/wider plastic container, so it doesn’t get around the edges which allows you to scoop easier, actually close the lid, and prevent spilling. Pro Tip: If you like this product and see yourself as a reoccurring customer, then I recommend getting a large glass Tupperware with a proper lid. *APPLICATION: It is similar to what you expect if you’re a pro. Pro Tip: Short pulls are your best friend. Make sure to cleanse your skin with soap and water (DRY COMPLETELY), add powder to the skin to suck up any residual moisture, and dust off. - The key to a great pull is…Firstly, Slowly Apply the wax to the OPPOSITE side of hair growth, then bring it back down to the direction of hair growth and then back to the opposite side (3 spreads total- This will ensure all hair follicles are properly covered). Now that you ended and the top point of the direction of hair growth, you want to start pulling (SMALL SECTIONS AT A TIME!). Trust me it makes a difference in pain, accuracy and consistency. - This isn’t regular wax where you can do one quick pull and it’s over, one quick pull with this wax would send you in agonizing pain (if not using waxing strips of course). Small sections is key for comfort. And unlike other waxes where you apply it with the direction of hair growth and pull opposite, this you apply it to the opposite side of hair growth and pull towards the direction of hair growth. This is why sugaring is great (rarely breaks the skin-so you can go over the same area multiple times, doesn’t break the follicles when time to pull- which helps prevent ingrown hairs). Keeping in mind regularly gently exfoliating the skin pre and post treatment will always give you the best results. You should wait a few days post treatment to begin exfoliating and stop exfoliating a day before treatment (If sensitive). *TOOLS: I typically like using my hands, because I can really push that product down. However, I tried the cards it came with and it works just as well. Just annoying to scoop up and wipe off if you need a new wax ball, since it’s shaped like a card (which to my first point is why I recommend transferring the product into another wide container). The card does force you to have to really work just a bit harder to make sure all follicles are coated, but for a beginner it’s a great way to get in the hang of “The Flick” method. If you’re slower waxer, something else to note if you enjoy both hand and card tools- card will keep your sugar cooler for longer, whereas your hand will heat it up much faster and you’ll need a new firmer ball of wax sooner than with the card tool. *PRODUCTS: The “pre and post product” it comes with is okay. Nothing to hype about. PRO & Money Saving Tip: All you really need is the card tool and wax. Pre powder can be substituted with any baby powder. The post solution can be substituted with your own body wash/skin care. It washes off easily- unlike other unnatural waxes where you should use post wax solution, to completely remove the wax. So no need to spend more on the complete kit if you have those two things at home already. Hopefully this review was helpful to at least one person. ... show more

  • It works but...
I have fine, blond hair on my legs and have tried waxing, both with a professional and at home. It never works. It only gets maybe half of my hair out even when I do it consistently. Laser won’t work because my hair is too light so shaving is my only option. I decided to give this stuff a try just because I hate shaving. It does work for me however I had to have longer hair than what they recommend otherwise it didn’t take much hair out. It’s more painful applying the sugar when the hair is longer but ripping it out doesn’t hurt. The cons are it’s really messy. The sugar is incredibly difficult to get out of the jar and when you “flick” it off your leg, sometimes pieces go flying. It comes with 2 cards but really, you need like 10. I kept having to go rinse off the cards after just a couple of uses but that could be because I have to have longer hair when using it. I can’t see this ever taking only 7 minutes per leg (what the company claims). I’m not sure I’m going to want to deal with the mess of this but I’ll continue for now because I want to see if it really does leave skin hair free for up to 4-8 weeks. Quick update- Nevermind, I gave up. When I wrote the review, I had only managed to do a small area of my lower leg. I tried to do more today and just can’t. It’s way too messy and not worth it. I’ll stick to shaving. ... show more

  • I’ll try it again but it probably still won’t be for me
Watching the tutorial was somewhat helpful. The company recommends using a golf ball size amount of sugar for legs or arms - that is WAY to much. For novice flickers less is more. I tried a half golf ball size (because that’s the most I could get out) and ended up wasting the entire thing. It was too large for the plastic card (think hotel key) to manage. I started using smaller amounts and was quickly able to get the flicking technique down. The website and video give no info on what to do with used sugar. It’s so sticky even after it’s used that trying to put it in a trash can is nearly impossible, washing it down the sink makes everything wet (and more flicking impossible), so I left the used sugar on my skin. This was a TERRIBLE idea. My regular bath gel couldn’t get it off my leg so I resorted to dish soap. Curious as to what other people have done. I got through about half of one leg in about 45 min, I caved and shaved my other leg (while the dish soap was breaking down the used sugar on my other leg). My shin and knee were easy to flick. The top of my leg was much harder and I had to hold my skin taught. Trying to work to the back of my leg was when I gave up. It’s hard to reach to shave let alone yank your hairs out with sugar. I’ll give this another go on my other leg next week before saying this really isn’t for me. Comparing my shaved leg to my sugar me smooth leg, my shaved leg feels better. The sugar didn’t pull a lot of the hair out, even when I went over the area a few times. And the more times you go over an area, the more likely you are to have it stick to your skin and go no where. Hopefully the second time around I will be able to get better results - everything I’ve read says you have to do it a few times to really get it down, hoping my results are just because I’m new at this. My other major comment is the amount given. Granted I wasted a lot initially, but the tub they show in the video is not what I received from amazon. If I had continued with my other leg I probably would’ve used the entire thing up. For how much it costs, the results better be mind blowing to justify using this over shaving once a week and the price of razors and shaving cream. ... show more
