Description

The SL88 Studio is the perfect extension of the SL CONTROLLERS line, providing the perfect combination of lightness and power. The user interface is perfect for quick navigation and setup, and also gives you excellent in-depth control. The SL88 Studio adopts the latest hammer action key bed technology from FATAR, giving the best piano touch feeling. TP/100LR is remarkably lighter than any other. Each of the keys provides 3 contacts for superior performance, and the weighted touch guarantees a fluent and authentic feel. With its compact profile, the SL88 Studio is an extremely portable professional controller. Thanks to a perfect integration with the TP/100LR keyboard, it weighs in at a mere 30 pounds. The SL88 Studio is stage and studio ready with a rugged full metal casing. • Great feel, un-intuitive interface
Color: Black
Had keyboard for a week. Has support issue where i could not get the SL Editor application to connect. So I've been pretty frustrated so far using the control panel to get around. I admittedly was drawn to the keyboard because of it's simple look and control panel. But the interface GUI is way too complicated to be used with the 3button/Control knob. It's obviously designed for the SL Editor app, which i could not get working. Support seemed to be responsive, but was unable to solve my issue. They also advised using a special shield USB cable, which was NOT included with the keyboard. Pretty silly if you ask an Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Yea, i fix this computer $hit every day at work. Even too complicated for me). Been playing on Keystation Pro 88's for past several years. This Fatar keyboard is certainly different but has Pro's and Con's. The velocity response range is incredible. At one point i found myself pounding on the keys because the vel curve was so soft, but it responded. Depending on your VST of Choice, you'll most certainly need to tune the Velocity Curve and maybe even the Key weight. Awesome if you're into total control. Bad if you don't want to be bothered with those details and just play. There are only 3 built in Vel curves...none of which matched Alicia's Keys or Keyscape. Thankfully Keyscape allows you to tweak the curve in the plugin, Alicia's Keys not so much. You need the SL Editor App to get this tuned right 100% no question. The spacing on the keys feels a bit tighter than other Hammer-Action keyboards I've played in this price range, but allows me to play faster. Also does not have that signature Hammer kick-back on the KeystationPro or M-Audio Hammer.. but is a top-quality expressive feel no doubt. The Control Sticks also did not map natively in Ableton Live 10. All my other keyboards Mod-Wheel and Pitch Wheels always mapped correctly no matter what plugins i use. The sticks on this thing need to be programmed and saved #PITA If you're looking for a true Plug&Play MIDI setup without the hassle of having to manually control every detail, then this keyboard is not for you. I'll be returning this to give the M-AUDIO Hammer a try ... show more

  • Good basic keyboard for the price
Color: Black
This keyboard is pretty good for the price. I'm not doing much with the controller beyond just connecting it to my daw so I can't say much there except the interface and menus are kind of clunky. I've been able to find what I need, though. The keyboard feel is the reason I bought it but I'm a little luke-warm about it. It's totally playable but the keys are annoyingly sluggish. They just feel heavy and weird and nothing at all like my actual piano. The action on my Yamaha upright is 10 times lighter than on this keyboard. And no grand piano that I've ever played has a really heavy sluggish action like that. That being said, it plays pretty well once you get used to it. But I wanted a basic controller to record small piano parts on - not to spend hours and hours playing . .so this meets my needs pretty well the price is great. ... show more

Color: Black
FANTASTIC PRODUCT ALL AS EXPECTED....was delivered 4 days early then the given expected delivery date which was good and bad, good that i got it early but bad that it came at a unexpected time and as a result was delivered in rain and wind storm.... and for some reason was left out up against house long ways in rain storm and wind storm no signature no knock on the door or anything... ... THANK YOU UPS... i have a covered front porch and it was left out in rain upright on the side of house :( thank god it was not only well packaged but i happend to leave the house at 8pm and found that it had been delivered adter 7pm......lol anyway, sorry i extremely digress... other than that BS I ADORE the keyboard... it feels great and i couldn't be happier with its weight, build, rugged feel and highly accurate response to my performance... im am very happy i went with the SL88, GET YOU ONE TOO but just wait outside until it shows up so it makes it into the house safe!! ... show more

  • Premium quality
Color: Black
Great quality hammer action keys. 3 ports for pedals. It comes with 1 pedal. 4 stars because it’s not wood-key piano

  • Good controller
Color: Black
nicely build and surprised of how light it is for a controller this size. key feels awesome. the software is meh, and the display may have this stain that appears a then disappears put affects nothing in the display functionality. may be tricky for chancing the "zones" on live performance put it depends on your needs. the stick controllers feel great and are on a position easy to reach but for live performances may feel a little small for some "precise expressions/felling" but ok when used to it. excellent port selection, if you care of statics, it looks so simple and nice. Gigs had been greats so far ... show more

  • Well-built but questionable longevity in electronics.
Color: Black
Only had my Studio version for less than 6 months and already the LCD screen has become faded out and distorted. The right side of the screen is becoming illegible. I love the design and build quality of the unit (minus the matte, sometimes slippery black keys), but if the screen is dying already, I'm not sure I have much faith in the rest of the internals. Update 7/15/17: I'm starting to believe warranty is non-existent with the company Studiologic. I tried to get the screen repaired as it was still within its 1 year warranty period, but it's been a nightmare. Contacting the company directly will do you no good, they'll just tell you to find an authorized dealer near you. After much back and forth with different numbers and people, I managed to get a person from American Music Supply to give me a list of local repair shops. I sent it in not much after I wrote the first review, and still have yet to receive my unit back. Every time I send in an inquiry, the shop tells me they still haven't gotten the part because they have to manufacture one for me. Avoid Studiologic products unless you want to gamble with your investment. ... show more
