I was debating these vs the locking ones and decided to go with these. I made the right choice. They look lovely, hold instruments with various shapes and sizes of head, and have a non foam surface which is supposedly better for more delicate finishes (none of my guitars have nitro finishes but it’s nice to know that these will be safe(r)). Installation was quick and easy. I ended up putting a backing board up as my studs were too far apart for what I wanted. I used screws with tighter threads that I bought from Lowes. I like the way the hanger pivots to maintain guitar center of gravity. It holds my Tele no problem. Even my little ukulele. Note that when you screw in the hanger into the wood base, do NOT screw all the way in! It is supposed to be a little loose. If you see the little black rubber spacer behind the hanger severely compressed, you’ve screwed it too far. I’ve seen a few reviews complaining that the hanger screw sticks out the back too far. The reason is because they screwed it in too tight. It’s supposed to be a little loose, so the hanger can rotate depending on the headstock shape. All in all very happy with the purchase. Now to go get more guitars!

When I first decided to hang a couple of my guitars 6 years ago I found these and they've done a great job. So much so, that when I decided to hang 2 more guitars recently, I bought the same hangers. They look nice on the wall and are easy to install. They hold all of my guitars well and I don't ever worry that my guitars are going to fall off or will be damaged. (I have a Fender Strat, a Fender Squire P-bass, an Alvarez 12-string, and a Taylor 224, and all are held well.) They have a nice fit around the neck of all of my guitars. Over time, these have held up perfectly. They have stayed secure on the wall and show no signs of wear and tear. I did screw these into the studs and I recommend doing that if you are trusting your expensive guitars hanging on the wall.

If you are wondering, yes the guitar hanger will work with basses. I hung my big old P bass (4 string) no problem. However I definitely recommend in this case to drill the mount into the wall stud and not just into the dry wall. The hanging arms are out about 3 inches from the mount itself. This adds additional leverage on the screws into wall. I just don't think the drywall screws would hold up well.

Needed a guitar hanger to hang my guitar. This works great! Keeps the guitar body away from the wall by 2.5 inches. Other reviewers recommended buying better sheetrock anchors than the ones provided. Which I'm glad I did. You need to be exact when laying out the screw holes. I pre drilled the top hole using same diameter drill as in the the hanger base in the sheetrock. Then screwed the first anchor in. Then attached the guitar hanger using the top hole. Vertically Level the hanger, then drill the second hole. Screw in the anchor into the sheetrock. Then attach the guitar hanger base.

I opted to screw into a stud in my wall. I used a small drill bit to make pilot holes and it was an easy install. The hanger looks well made and feels pretty sturdy. I have no doubt this will hold. No matter how straight you install the hanger your axe might hang a little crooked. But you can easily adjust like hanging a picture. The fork is a little tight so you can adjust and it stays in place. I might have over tightened it one turn. But Im happy with it as it is.
