  • Versitile and Easy to use
Used these to replace the plug on an electric heater that I leave on quite a bit in the winter under my computer desk. The old plug would get hot and head up the cord leading up to it. After cutting the wires and installing the new plug, it no longer had an issue with the wire heating up. The inner screws along with the one outer screw are very very easy to use. The connections are also very isolated from each other preventing arcing within the plug. I used silicon rubber to fill the inside after installing and before screwing the cap on to help prevent corrosion and make it water tight. ... show more

  • Good but not great.
Had a couple of issues with stripped wire holder / screws. Customer service was great to replace.

  • Good for low power applications
This worked well, once I figured it out. I used these to replace 120v twist plug on several 400w lighting fixtures. 1) I had to drill out the end to get the cord to fit due to the extra insulation on the cord. 2) Because the terminals weren't marked, I did have to go online to determine which color wire to use on which slot. 3) To prevent inadvertently pulling the plug from the wire, this plug uses friction slots for all three wires. For this to work as intended, it's critical that the wire in contact with the slot be insulated. Getting the insulated wire into the friction slot is difficult. After doing this several times, here are my recommendations: 3a. Strip the wire ends no more than 1/2 inch, just long enough to get around the terminal. 3b. Pre-bend the insulated part of the wire to go into the friction slot. 3c. Twist and pre-bend the stripped end in a circle using the shank of a small screwdriver to fit around the terminal screw. 3d. Remove the terminal screw before positioning each wire (and then screw into place). 4) The plug is made of a low melting point plastic. Because of the high energy used in my application, I'm left concerned that the plug may melt and/or cause a fire though it's well within its rating. I have one plug left. I will perform heat resistance and fire tests before installing these lights. I should have done that prior, but didn't consider that an issue until I noticed the material melting and giving off odors from the friction of drilling the hole larger to accommodate the larger cord. Given the above, I would hesitate to use this plug at the maximum of its rating. ... show more

  • Know what you're NOT buying.
This listing couldn't be more accurate, but that doesn't preclude someone just "assuming" that they know what they're buying. This isn't a commercial plug by any stretch of the imagination. Don't think it is. The plug isn't well insulated; it's not rated for use around heat (NEAR a heater); it's not rated for use ON a heater's power cord. THIS PLUG IS NOT WATER PROOF nor RESISTANT. AT ALL. As others have said, this is tricky to get together, it just doesn't "flow" like other screw-terminal plugs. There's minimal space in the housing, and the plug design is such that you'll have a short run from the casing to the terminals. There is NO strain relief for the cable, there is a hook relief for each strand. Pulling on the cable has a HIGH probability of pulling at least one of the strands off the plug terminals. That's gonna be a short, one way or another. A cheap hack for this would be to cut a small wedge out of wood and drop it down the plug to jam against the cord in the hole. Pull right, and that's better than nothing. There's no labeling for the terminals, buuuut... It's plenty easy to look up, and - if you're doing this for the first time, then yeah, you'll have to look it up. That's learning. White is neutral, neutral is the wide pin/socket. Hold the PLUG facing away from you, ground up. Neutral/White is the terminal on the right. In the end, these competed the task I had in front of me. But, I would never use the repaired devices in a "critical" situation, nor would I ever loan these out. I trust me to remember that the repair isn't totally cool, but not someone else. I would NOT buy these again. ... show more

  • Smaller the wire the better
Great for smaller wire cords, connections could be made better and easier to connect

  • It is sufficient for the price
In addition to being priced right, there are not a lot of options when you are looking for 3-prong outlet connectors, male or female. This one works but it doesn't really check all the boxes. Here are a few specific examples, some have been mentioned in previous reviews but are worth re-visiting in hopes this can be fixed. I'm not hopeful though. 1. The screw fittings inside are not color coded (gold and silver) as is standard for US connectors. You must be very careful when screwing on the wires because the screw tabs are all silver. Which is hot and which is neutral? THIS IS IMPORTANT for the end user to be properly protected. Normally this is a no-brainer, brass screw is the hot wire. 2. There is no strain relief for the wire. This is more of an issue than most people realize. How often do you really grab the housing instead of the wire when unplugging a connector? Especially when a connector fits tight in the socket? In truth, most people grab as much wire as they do housing. In this situation that means you are pulling the copper on the screws inside. Over time those wires can pull from under the screws. Good connectors have a pinch point that holds the wire and absorbs the load. 3. The prongs on this are slightly oversized or something. They are difficult to plug into a standard outlet which encourages you to fist handle it into some sockets, especially if they are newer. That equates to....you could potentially slip and touch the hot connector while the prongs are exposed. Again, this item fulfilled what I needed because there are not many options but it would be nice if someone would sit down and engineer one of these correctly. I will take 12 please. ... show more
