The STORYCOAST Polarized Sports Sunglasses exceeded my expectations right from the start. The fit is spot on — they sit comfortably on my face without squeezing or sliding, even during long rides. They feel secure enough for active use while still being comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time. One thing I really appreciated is how many extras come with these sunglasses. They include multiple carrying cases, lens wipes, and a strap that keeps the glasses from falling off during rides or other activities. Those extras add real value and make it easy to protect and use the sunglasses in different situations. Build quality is where these really stand out. These sunglasses are very well made, and to be completely honest, I accidentally sat on them, expecting them to be ruined — but they didn’t break, crack, or lose their shape. That alone says a lot about how durable they are. They don’t feel cheap or flimsy at all. I’ve also ridden over 100 miles on my bike while wearing them, and the lenses still look brand new. There’s been no fading, scratching, or loss of clarity. The polarization works well in bright conditions, helping reduce glare and eye strain during long rides. Overall, these sunglasses hold up to real-world use and abuse, offer excellent comfort, and come with useful accessories. The plastic on the sides feels a bit flimsy to the touch, though it’s not noticeable just by looking. I’ve received a lot of compliments wearing them. The lenses provide great sun protection without being too dark, and they even work well in low light (early morning to dusk). I needed a replacement for a scratched up pair of Bolle wraparound sunglasses that I would wear while playing softball. Given how scratched up my Bolles got, I figured I'd try an inexpensive pair of sunglasses and view it as a disposable item; that way I wouldn't get stressed out about losing them or damaging them. These Storycoast glasses fit the bill. Inexpensive, yes. But also polarized, comfortable, and, for now crystal clear and scratch free. As far as comfort is concerned, the frame, being made of cheap plastic, is -- as a result -- quite lightweight. And, to the manufacturer's credit, rather than simply molding a nose piece out of that same plastic, there is a separate rubberized nose piece that sits nicely on my face. Is this going to survive someone's sweaty butt plopping down on it on the bench? Nope. But can I wear it for three hours without noticing it's there? Yep. The Storycoast lens itself is okay. It's genuinely polarized -- in fact, it comes with a cute little polarization checker the size of a postage stamp to prove the point. And the coating on it is consistent and clear. But if you look closely at the pictures of these glasses, the frame has to provide structure all the way around the lens, both top and bottom (see attached photo). That's because the lens is made of 1.0mm thick plastic which I measured with a digital caliper. In comparison, my old Bolle lenses were made of 1.5mm thick plastic and, thus, was solid enough that the Bolle frame only needed to hold the lens along its top edge. Finally, the sunglasses and all of its associated accoutrements (an insert which can take prescription lenses, a glasses strap/lanyard, a soft microfiber bag and cleaning cloth, the aforementioned polarization tester, and a large black cloth which looks like it could be worn as a neck gaiter) had a peculiar odor. At first I couldn't put my finger on it but then I realized it smelled like the residual smoke from burning Duraflame logs. Not the worst odor but somewhat unexpected. I might still go out and invest in a decent pair of wraparound sunglasses but for now these will do and will probably be my go-to shades for situations where I might lose them (e.g. going to an amusement park, or kayaking, or what-have-you). ... show more

    • Great Sun Protection, But Frames Lack Durability

This is our second time purchasing because they are a good price. My husband is an Oakley user and fan and about every 2 years would get a new pair of their prism radar line. But those are $150- $200 and we are trying to save money right now. They look very similar in style to the Oakley's he uses but you obviously get what you pay for. He has been using these sunglasses for a while now(as I mentioned this is our second time purchasing), and while they do a great job when it comes to sun protection, the frame quality leaves a lot to be desired. On the positive side, the polarized lenses are excellent. They reduce glare significantly and make driving or spending time outdoors much more comfortable for him. The UV protection also seems solid, and they’re comfortable to wear for extended periods without pinching or slipping. However, the downside is the frames. They feel lightweight, which is nice at first, but unfortunately, that comes at the cost of durability. My husband's developed a crack in the frames after only a few weeks of careful use. The plastic just doesn’t hold up well to normal wear and tear. If you’re looking for affordable sunglasses with great lens quality and don’t mind treating them very gently, these could still be worth considering. But if you need something that can withstand daily use or a bit of rough handling, you might want to invest in a sturdier pair. *We had an issue on our second purchase and it said delivered but we never received the package and as always Amazon was very helpful and fast in getting us a replacement free of charge. ... show more
