I bought one of these when it was called a whale tail for my tri haul many years ago and it made all the difference in the world, now my bass boat 150 hp worked just ok lot of front lift especially when I had four people in the live well is full of fish. I could hardly get it up on plane, put this on my bass boat and it worked just like the old days got up on plane in half the time. I did not lose any speed and it helped a lot with Porpoising. Helps with stability Too, thick heavy duty plastic so not worried about breaking, easy to install, just hate drilling holes in my nice motor but that is part of the install, after looking at and reading reviews of other hydrofoils this one seems to be the best in my opinion , ol faithful way back and today, and ya can’t go wrong for the price, lots of other brands are twice the price and not as sturdy ... show more

these units make a huge difference getting on plane with most outboard boats. I immediately noticed a difference. The boat hops up on plane much faster, thus saving fuel and allows users to cruise at a lower rpm and stay on plane. saves fuel

It was a fast delivery and it fit correctly. I did have to slide it back about a ½" to keep from drilling holes through the little fin above the prop. It works exactly as advertised when bringing my boat up on plane. Top speed and fuel consumption hasn't been figured.

First of all, my buddies who run this same product are all complaining about the same problem. Def works as a stabilizer. Very happy with that. That reason for a 4 star rating was it cut about 10% percent of my top end off. I run a 90 hp Honda and could hit close to 40 mp without it. Not sure if I can even get 33 mph. Thinking about changing our to a more simple Doel fin. Not a problem on a smaller lakes but if your running 20 miles then it becomes a big problem. ... show more

Installed in about 10 minutes, easily. I put this on my 20’ pontoon with an Merc 75 and it definitely gets up in a plane faster, is smoother in choppy water, and feels a mile or two per hour faster at top speed. Trimming the motor before didn’t do much, this gives a lot more control.
