Description

This iconic stratoliner features a tear drop crown and is made of royal quality fur felt. The crown is 4 1/2 inches tall and the bound edged brim measures 2 1/2 inches wide. This fur felt fedora is fully lined with a satin Stetson lining. The cowhide sweatband is comfortable and soft. This style features a narrow grosgrain ribbon band and a Stetson airliner pin. Each hat is carefully manufactured in our factory located in garland, tx. This hat will be delivered in an individual Stetson box. Stratoliner is a featured style in the 150th. Anniversary collection by Stetson.

Having long admired this,particular Stetson Fedora, and having scraped together the (well worth it) price, I was extremely pleased with this hat. There is a definite "Howard Hughes in the late'40s" vibe to it, it looks good with an outdoorsy outfit or a suit, and the quality of materials and craftsmanship are self-evident. I have several Hats and, some of them were a little-below my expectations but, (all) are are just nice to have. Most have been of the correct fit , some a little off. I like to have a different Hat for the different seasons. ie. you just do not wear a wool-hat during summer and no linen-Hat during winter. I recently ordered the Stetson "Stratoliner",.. and this Hat is the best Hat I have ever owned. Quality with a ring of the past is,.. this hat! The fit is perfect and the feel is "Outstanding" to say the least. I am looking forward to Fall as,..this is a "Fur" hat and will do well for me during the colder weather. My Stetson came in a nice Stetson box and was also inside a plastic bag with extra foam material to protect and help keep its shape. This is not only a "Quality" product but,..it was very evident that packaging was of a high standard also. Yes,..you $pay$ more for for this "Brand" but you are also riding 1st Class with a Stetson Hat. Once you see and feel this Hat you will not be disappointed. Lastly,..this Hat can be worn on any occasion. People want to know where you got this Hat. Simple-Put,.."The best Hat anyone can get". ... show more

I really love this hat and they had a great sale with a great discount. I saw someone complaining that they put a DC-3 pin on it instead of a Stratoliner and this one came with the DC-3 pin, which if you check the Stetson store it can come with the DC-3 pin. I'm very conflicted about returning it, because to replace it would cost another $57 dollars. It's only a little tight. I will not wear it until I make a decision. I only tried it on, and love it. I would have to switch colors, this was a Cordova. It is size 7 and I measured several times with a sewing tape and it kept coming out pretty exact at 22 inches. But, it's tight. I would suggest sizing up and maybe you'll have a better fit. I love it so much, that I'll gladly pay the extra to replace this one. Great bargain. Oh, and it arrived a couple days early. Backcountry did a great job. Hope they will understand if I return it. It will be my loss. It had a hidden box, with the proper Stetson hat box inside. ... show more

This version of the Stratoliner isn’t that authentic. While it is well made and very attractive the brim to crown dimensions are way out of proportion to be considered authentic. The original had a higher crown and shorter brim. I own a 1950s Strat and the crown is a full inch taller and the brim almost 1/4 shorter. The brim on this hat is listed at 2 1/2”. Actually it’s 2 5/8”. My ‘50s Strat has a 2 3/8 brim. These dimensions change the look. The manufacturer, Hatco cannot possibly be using the original hat blocks. Instead the crown is like other modern fedoras, lower and more compact. To sum it up the current Stratoliner is something of a caricature of a 1940-50s fedora. This doesn’t mean that I dislike it. The fur felt which is rabbit is of a high quality for rabbit fur felt. The hand is soft and it is extremely lightweight for a modern fedora. In that regard it’s a good attempt at reproducing the fur felt of the past; not anything as good as the fur felt of the past but very good for today’s standards. The leather sweatband is high quality, thick and supple. The construction on mine is flawless. Over all the hat looks good and is comfortable to wear. This fedora of course can’t complete with my vintage fedoras but I enjoy wearing it. If you want a comfortable, well made and attractive modern interpretation of an iconic fedora this is a nice hat to acquire. ... show more
