I purchased this to place on a (large, heavy-duty) shelf above my son's race car bed and it's been a fantastic top bunk. With just a sheet of 3/4" plywood as a bunkie board and a 6" mattress, the walls are plenty high enough to prevent him rolling out. There are 2 trusses across the middle, so that plywood is well supported. I omitted the stock tires, which are not structural, and added giant wheels down at floor level. The side wall will flex under the weight of a hanging ladder, but it's not designed for that, so it keeps the 5-star rating. The working headlights are a nice touch, but I recommend wiring them up with a 3v adapter and a switch to avoid blowing the ol' battery budget... ... show more

We bought these for our 2 grandsons. Oh my gosh!!! They are so cute, the light up headlights are amazing and the boys love them. Only thing I didn’t realize was to buy the board to go under the mattress. Totally my fault. Would definitely buy again. Easy to put together and the kids say they are comfortable. Looks nice and my 2 year old loved it the moment he saw it, but overall it's a bit over priced for what you get. The assembly really requires power tools (drill w/screwdriver bit), but they don't state this, so I presume they just expect you to hand tap several dozen screws and these biting anchors into the hard plastic which is ridiculous. Even with proper tools the anchors that are designed to bite into the plastic were a serious pain to keep straight without gouging out the plastic trying to course correct. Using the screws to pierce through the plastic took a considerable amount of force even with the drill. If I had to do it again I probably would have pre-drilled because the screw tips didn't really seem up to the task if I'm being honest. I'd expected some actual prefab anchors and solid screw mounts (metal sleeve) rather than driving directly into the relatively thin plastic, especially for the price they are asking. This means that you basically can't take it apart once assembled or else it will turn into a big flimsy mess. It's bad when I think about Ikea having better mounts and connectors for similar sorts of things at a fraction of the overall cost this was. Still, I can't say that it wasn't exactly what the kid wanted and he loves it...so there's that. ... show more

The bed itself is fine. However, the company sent 2 different colors. We ordered the red car and received mostly the gray car, with red pieces. The bed arrived in 2 separate boxes. The larger box was labeled "grey car" and the second box was labeled "red car." I haven't been able to get in contact with anyone from the company. Our toddler isn't a huge fan of change, so I'm hesitant to return the whole thing and have it result in him having trouble sleeping again. So now we are stuck with a half grey and half red car, when we spent a lot of money for the red one. The bed functions, so overall it's serving its purpose, it's just a bummer that we didn't receive what we ordered after spending a little bit more for a nice "big boy" bed. ... show more

It’s a very cute car bed. My 2 year old loves it for his first “big boy bed”. However the bed itself doesn’t come with wooden slats to hold the mattress up, despite the instructions stating that it’s needed - so be prepared to spend at least an additional $50+ to get that. Also, there aren’t any holes for the screws to go into, I found that to be very annoying while putting the product together. The front & the back portions of the bed do not have screw or anything holding it together well - so I'm hoping it lasts, but who knows at this point. Pretty disappointed in the cost of this product versus the actual value of the bed that you get. ... show more
