This piece of glass is the real deal! Man oh man does it look good on my SCAR 17. I purchased the LE version, which includes the throw. Now I need to purchase some flip-up lens covers b/c I'm a bit OCD when it comes to lens protection. The reticle is clean and straight (both vert.and horiz. lines are perfect, even at tube termination points), the glass is super crisp under all magnification settings, eye relief is about average, and the illumination/red dot is very sweet indeed. I'd say that this Steiner 5202 P4Xi, comparatively, is an absolute bargain for what you get in quality. As for usage, I think it presents a good balance between short, quick acquisition and through medium range applications -- and maybe additional distances, depending on rifle specs and shooter ability. All told, I'm really happy with this purchase and would probably rate this better than the Aimpoint Patrol and even the Comp M4s with Aimpoint 3X magnification (I have several of each set-up).and at a fraction of the cost of the latter.

Only thing that could be a bit better are the turrets, hard to hear and feel a positive click. Other than that this thing is legit, brightness settings cover all weather and light levels. Glass is crisp, rotation of the lens is solid, and its relatively light for how much is has built in!

Excellent quality, everything you would expect from Steiner. I mounted it on my Sig M400 and I've put about 500 rounds down range. I could not be more pleased. It's hard to believe I only paid $519 on Amazon. The combination of an etched reticle and red dot is, in my opinion, the best of both worlds. This scope is ideal if you want an optic for close quarters to medium range applications. The glass is crystal clear, and if it's not a true 1x I sure can't tell. The throw lever is an added bonus.

The law enforcement model offers the free lever throw and the civilian does not. The quality of the scope is off the charts the class is incredibly clear. I'm taking It to range tomorrow. You can not go wrong with Steiner reliability and its battle proven accountability. I looked at many different models from Vortex, Eotec, burris and many others. Primarly in the 1-4 to 1-6 range. This is not for hunting specifically for CQB , I also wanted something that would reach out and touch someone if I wanted to. Amazing scope for the money, highly recommended!

This is probably the sharpest piece of glass I own and I own at least one optic from almost every major manufacturer (Trijicon, Aimpoint, Vortex, etc.) -- the clarity is remarkable. I'd sooner trust my life to this optic past 150 yards than any red dot + magnifier set up I have used.

I purchased elsewhere as this site was a higher cost, but nevertheless a few observations of the product: Pros,,, great clear glass, zero distortion, edges are clear. Probably the best glass you will find in this price range. Reticle is simple and effective for the range of the 5.56. Weight is average and the caps on the turrets are welcomed. Cons... mine came with a battery cap that was screwed on so tight I still haven't gotten it off. The top reticle also bled red light down to the red dot. I was expecting a crisp, precise, red dot, not exactly a bleed from the top. Calls to Steiners main contact line go in circles, and instead apparently you must email them for problem resolution. They say 24-48 hours for a response. That part I really don't like, as asking for a cheap trick to get a battery cover off their product without using excessive force and damaging the unit would have been helpful, and much much faster. Overall a great unit and great buy, and I probably got one that might be needing some additional work. I would have rated as 4 stars if there was an actual phone number to call and talk with someone, and 5 stars if I didn't have to. For what it is, 5 stars. Cons: Slightly mushy turrets and illumination dial. Pros: Clear bright schott glass edge to edge. Very close to true 1x especially past 10 yards. (Inside 10 yards it's like 1.2x). Cross hairs are fat on the outside and thinner near the center draws eye well and good for distance. Red dot is true daylight bright. Simple BDC doesn't distract or clutter. Eye box and eye relief are good. The law enforcement model comes with a cat tail throw lever for no extra charge. Good for fast and close in targeting, like a red dot. Good for hitting targets within 400 yards with ease. What it isn't, is a 1-8x scope to get a little further out. That said, the eyebox on a 1-8x 24mm at 8x is frustratingly small. A larger scope fixes that, but is heavier, takes up more space on the rifle, and needs an offset red dot for close and fast shots, which then adds more weight. This scope is exactly what I was looking for.
