I'm a novice to buying body armor, since we've never needed it before, but since my kid is starting to do all the stuff that scares me to death, it's time to explore that world. From what I have researched, this fits all the criteria that we need: - it's comfortable - it moves with his body (bends where he bends and stays in place) - isn't too heavy (so he isn't likely to remove it) - breathable (crucial in our hot climate) - easy one-off with a simple latch system that isn't going to pop open unexpectedly - probably most importantly IT LOOKS COOL!!! You know that if they feel silly wearing it, they just won't, but if they feel like they look good, they'll safety wear their armor Time will tell how well this holds up, and I'll come back to update if we have any issues, but so far so good, and I'm really happy with it! ... show more

Description says it fits kids between 5 and 12 years old. By my estimation, its more like 7 to 9. It will fit SOME 5 year olds, and MAYBE some 12 year olds, but on average, you're looking at 7 to 9 year olds, based on the average American kid's height and shoulder width.

Product is just like in the pictures, sorry we're not allowed to have kids in our review pictures to show the fit. The first thing the kids did was trying to hit each other with objects (not too hard), and they felt invincible with this armor on. I tried to simulate some impacts with my palm and they had a huge smile with the results. It also gave me some confidence knowing they could fall off their motorcycle or take a handlebar to the chest without getting hurt. As far as mobility goes, they had no problem moving around. The kit gave my kids a lot of confidence in learning how to ride a pit bike. Now that they have more skill they don't need to use it all the time, just a helmet and gloves we got separately. I think they'll be using it more often once we get onto dirt or rocky trails. ... show more

My son is 12 years old. He's on the super skinny side at 74lbs, 5' tall. But I was able to get this set on myself as well at 5'9" 150lbs. I couldn't get it to strap but that was due to large chest. The protector is adjustable though so it would work for the smaller sized kids all the way to bigger kids. He's been riding dirtbikes since he was 4 & previously had the style pictured in this listing. I never really liked it or thought it would protect much but at the time was all the local store had. So I was thrilled to find a much thicker more durable set. It's literally like night and day between the two and I feel so much better with him wearing the new set. He also does races, not jumps but just straight drag racing. While you hope they don't wreck you have to prepare in case and this set will give you peace of mind. For the price and what you get it's very reasonable! Plus since it's adjustable our 6 year old can also fit it instead of buying 2 different ones. Great buy! ... show more

I got this for our 8 year old and it is fantastic quality. He’s about a 10 in size and it fits him nicely. It has some weight to it, due to the protective nature of it, but nothing that a kid would notice while playing. He also said it was comfortable and he’s so excited to have it. It’s very easy put on him fit to his correct size. I would definitely recommend, especially if you want a piece of mind when they’re riding those dangerous toys ... show more

This kids body armor protective set has worked great for my oldest when rlout riding his little dirt bike. The colors is nice and the guards are just in the right place. The chest and back protector is where this set really shines. It is way more durable that others out there of similar price and is it very appealing in design and comfort.
