This is a sturdy well made set. I have a preteen and it was tight, it didn't seem like it went across his whole chest. He is not an overweight kid. Happy with what recieved, but would say this is for younger kids. The elbow and knee pads did bend at the joints.

My son is 12 years old. He's on the super skinny side at 74lbs, 5' tall. But I was able to get this set on myself as well at 5'9" 150lbs. I couldn't get it to strap but that was due to large chest. The protector is adjustable though so it would work for the smaller sized kids all the way to bigger kids. He's been riding dirtbikes since he was 4 & previously had the style pictured in this listing. I never really liked it or thought it would protect much but at the time was all the local store had. So I was thrilled to find a much thicker more durable set. It's literally like night and day between the two and I feel so much better with him wearing the new set. He also does races, not jumps but just straight drag racing. While you hope they don't wreck you have to prepare in case and this set will give you peace of mind. For the price and what you get it's very reasonable! Plus since it's adjustable our 6 year old can also fit it instead of buying 2 different ones. Great buy! ... show more

Feels real enough but I'm no pro. I feel like these pads will keep my nephew safe now that he is not afraid to goo at high speed whether on the bike or go kart. They look and feel like they are were made and will survive normal wear and tear.

My model is eleven years old and about ninety pounds. If she was any larger this armor would be too small. The quality is good. The protection level is good also. I wear armor when riding off-road. I ordered this set for my son. He has been riding our small dirt bike around our backyard. He has a great helmet, but he really needed body gear for my peace of mind. I can't speak for professional type riding/racing, but this will work great for our personal home needs. The gear seems to be well made. The lining is thick and the shell seems pretty solid. Comes with alot of items. It has the chest/back plate, knee pads, elbow pads and a bag to keep it all in. It fit my daughter well. Now she will be able to start learning to ride her new dirt bike. We tested the armor by banging on it and it seems very sturdy and rigid. It should last awhile.
