  • Good product but you need to have some small engine sense…
Overall great bang for the buck. But you do have to add oil to the engine and also the the hammer mill container before use. No big deal. But it rattled several bolts loose the first use. So I had to apply some locktite and re-secure them. Again, no big deal but plan on some time to get it set up and built right. ... show more

  • Great deal if you have the time to assemble
arrives in 2 very heavy boxes and marginal instructions but got it together. You must add 10W30 oil to both the motor and the vibrator. Boxes came damaged due to the weight and the plate box was soaked in oil but no leaks when I started it up. The motor is very easy to pull start, first pull every time. Hard to believe it is actually 6.5 hp but it runs great and is saving me a ton of money on rental. UPDATE 1 Year - lightly used but starts very easily and dependable. Only repair has been to reinstall some guard bolts that vibrated loose. Very handy to have a small compactor available all the time. ... show more

  • Great for tamping bagged asphalt in potholes!
Got this for pothole repair tamping bagged asphalt mix and it works great for that purpose. If you're working on a slope, stand on downhill side of slope when using and it will be easy to use I found out and spray some WD-40 on plate before using for asphalt. A nice little machine and a great value in my opinion. I have used bigger and heavier machines but at 77 I like this size better and the wheels make it easy to move around. ... show more

  • Missing parts, damaged items, and does not start.
When I finally received the second box of 2, it looked liked the manufacturer or shipping company used the box for batting practice. The package was falling apart, open at three ends and loosely taped back together as if the driver lost the box on the freeway. Indeed, there was a trail of parts from the street to my porch where the box was finally laid to rest. At this point, I didn't hold out much hope, but decided to try and piece the machine together. I opened one of the boxes and the first thing I noticed was a crushed air filter, a bent rod of some sort, and a damaged handle. Nonetheless I continued with my effort to piece the plate compactor together. I opened the instructions supplied with the machine and it was virtually unreadable. Fortunately (sort of), I was able to find the owner's manual online with images that I could actually see. This was hopeful. However, once I dug into the instructions they were virtually useless. Amusingly, one of the instructions was written as follows, "Note you should adjust the position to make the dust shield plate in the right way." This was followed by "Screw up four M12 locknut to fix the engine support plate." Well something was screwed up alright. So, after numerous trips to the hardware store to try and find replacements for missing bolts and nuts, I finally had the machine assembled only to find out the engine operation manual was as cryptic as the owners manual. I then spent the next two hours trying to start the engine to no avail. Perhaps it is all my fault as I was dumb enough to by an expensive piece of equipment from an online retailer. ... show more

  • Great product!!!
This compactor works great. It packs very well and is easy to maneuver around your area. It walks on its own and you just guide where you want it to go. Flip down wheels make it easy to move and it's not really big so it's easy to store. So glad I bought this!

  • No assembly required
Must be a newer version than other reviewers, besides adding oil it ready to go out of the box. Performs well for the price

  • That pesky switch. READ HERE if it doesn't start first pull.
A customer review on here from November 10, 2022 mentioned a bad switch from the start. Yup. Disconnected the yellow wire and boom. First pull. Before that I could tell I was getting gas but would spark. Electrical. The customer I mentioned saved me HOURS by trying this ONE thing and it worked well. Value; great. Performance; great. Ease of Assembly; great. Starting right out of the box? Nope. Come on Stark. For the price, I almost expected some troubleshooting. Travels well when compacting. Hits hard. Not up to par with commercial Wacker products but at 1/5 the price, I'm ok with going over the project area a few more times. Wheels make this little compactor a gem to move around on existing hard surfaces. ... show more

  • Great unit once assembled and oiled.
Works exactly as expected and started on the first pull. The only issue I had was when it arrived the oil in the vibrating unit leaked out and saturated the box. The oil plug was torqued down so hard I had to use a 6 point socket to loosen the plug without stripping it out. oil plug does not need to be that tight. You will have to buy oil for it as it did not come with any and you definitely need to check it before you start it up. the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. ... show more
