Super cool lightsaber, my 5 year old loves it!! It's pretty durable. The saber lights up, but the two side smaller saber pieces do not, those pieces also are less sturdy. A great product for the price.

    • Broke after second use.
First, the lightsaber came with the screw to the batteries stripped. So I had to drill it out and put in my own screw. Second, the side red plastics came crooked and a little bit loose, and it broke the third time my son used it. The main plastic piece that is the saber works well and lights up pretty good.     • Nice but I do have some complaints.
This saber is nice. It will do the trick when you're attempting to complete the look of your Kylo Ren costume but you will have to be careful with it being that it is rather delicate. However I did drop it once from about 4 feet and the only thing that the happened was the battery cover jostled out of place allowing the batteries to move from their sockets. By removing the battery cover and putting the batteries back in place it was working just fine again. My complaints are as follows: The blade isn't as long as I expected. The two smaller blades extending from the hilt do not retract. The blade has a locking arm to keep it inside the hilt but it is flimsy and does not always hold the blade inside. The light is not very bright unless it is completely dark but it does somewhat light up the two side blades. In conclusion I think with a L.E.D. modification and locking mechanism modification this could be a nice accent to your costume. You get what you pay for... ... show more

We bought this for my son who insisted on being Kylo Ren for Halloween. Well, it got us through Halloween, but not much further. Just not a very good construction, and not very sturdy. It's not expensive though, so I suppose it's exactly what it's supposed to be.

I pursues this for my sons 10th birthday , since the new craze with star wars The packaging came very well in a big brown box wrapped up in a safety wrap . so i was really happy about that , nothing better than pursing something and the seller making sure it gets delivered safe . The star wars sword lights up to this really nice pretty red . Only the blad in the middle lights up , kinda disappointing but still really cool . It only took my kids " the other 3 " two hours to break it. witch that's a record for my kids ,they usually broke a new toy within an hour so the toy was really well made :) It was great while it lasted .... ... show more

    • Good Accessory For the Kylo Ren Costume
I bought this as an accessory for my son's Kylo Ren costume. From his point of view, he thinks it's awesome because it lights up. It does require two AA batteries ( not included). Also, the "saber" portion collapses within itself so that when you swing the saber, the saber extends. An analogy would be like those pill cups that collapses on itself. It is 35 inches long, but because it's made of plastic, it's not heavy or bulky to carry. I gave it one fewer star, because the light source is at the bottom. Therefore, the illumination is not strong throughout the saber. My son would give it five stars, though. ... show more

I remember playing with these types of lightsaber toys as a kid, but what I forgot was how huge the hilt had to be for the blade to be retractable. I wanted a cheap saber for my Kylo ren costume and this is definitely what I needed. However it's not well scaled as its hilt is at least double the size of what you'd expect. I can't get my hand fully around it. The side blades also don't retract. I did do a little bang testing ( I whacked some furniture and trees with it) and it's pretty durable. However I'm showing some restraint that I think kids may not. If you've got some rambunctious scamps that are going to go full force with these, I would suggest looking into a sturdier model. ... show more
