This is a really useful sit-to-stand assist device. I've had similar ones that brace themselves by being inserted under the couch cushion, but not every sofa these days has removable cushions, so they can't be used universally. In this case, the frame slides under the sofa, which lets you push the stand all the way in, which is great. For going from sitting to standing or vice versa, this works perfectly. My only issue is that i go from sitting to lying down very frequently when i'm on the couch, and it's a little difficult to sit, then move the stand out of the way, then lay down, and then to reverse the process when I want to get up. The stand itself is really strong and well made. It's easy to assemble and easy to adjust to get to the perfect height for your sofa. It will work out better for you if your sofa has a few inches of room at floor level, so that the stand can be slid around easily. My sofa is the type that has recliners built into it, so the bottom of it is barely off the floor enough to squeeze the stand's frame in. But in general it works fine, just not as well as if I were able to slide it around more easily.

This stand assist device was easy to assemble and all of the necessary hardware and tools were provided. Instructions were on a single sheet of paper and they were well written. Once the device was assembled I placed it under my sofa and I found that this device’s cross member interferes with my sofa’s metal base, luckily there was space that I was able to shimmy the stand assist device over the top of the sofa’s base which allowed me to tuck this stand assist device nicely under ( note I find it not ideal to install it the way I did but due to my sofa’s frame it was what I could do and it was still secure but ideally check your sofa to see if there is any bars or anything that could get in the way of this device. So my reaction to using the stand assist, it is convenient to adjust the handle height and when I push off of the handles it was solid but the metal frame does flex a bit when I apply my weight so it is t quite as strong as other stand assist devices that I’ve had. All in all this stand assist device is pretty good but the metal is definitely lighter weight than other products.

This stand assist has been a huge help for my father. Due to illness, his balance has been severely impacted. Although he is now using a walker, he is not able to balance himself to use it to stand up safely. With this stand assist, he can stand both independently and safely. Once he is in a fully standing position, he is able to maintain balance while holding onto the stand assist with one hand and grasping his walker with the other. This has aided in his recovery, as he is standing more frequently because he can do it independently. The stand assist was easy to put assemble. It comes with all the necessary parts and tools. It only took about 10 minutes to get it set up, adjusted, and ready for use. Even when my father puts his full weight on it, it doesn't shake or shift. There are optional screws to permanently affix it to the floor for added safety, but I didn't find them necessary, as the stand was stable enough with them.

This is a very nice device for helping one to stand up and to sit down. It is good quality, well made, and sturdy. It stays in place well, and can be adjusted to fit your needs. It is relatively easy to assemble, with the tools included in the box. Overall a very helpful device for those who need assistance.
