  • Better quality than expected from a Squier.
Came set up great out of the box. Plays and sounds a lot like a MIM Fender but for a lot less money. I'm not saying this is equal to or a replacement for a Fender but if you are a guitar player and want to have a good quality bass around for demos or jamming, you really can't go wrong for the money. I'd even gig with it in a situation where I'd be filling in for a friend. ... show more

  • Plays really well
Neck and fretwork are excellent ... pickups are good for the price ... these are great for just playing a small venue or noodling at home. Definitely worth the $ IMHO

  • Couple minor problems...
I really love this bass, so much, it’s amazing and my favorite five string I’ve had, but that being said, I’ve had a lot of problems with this purchase. First the D-string tuner is crooked, and looks like it could break soon. And the second was that my g-string snapped 6 days after getting it. Besides those two factors it’s a smooth, fun bass ... show more

  • Like an old jazz bass
I have to admit, you most likely won't find a 5 string jazz bass in the 70's. But this bass feels and sounds period correct and every time I pick it up it feels and sounds just like a jazz bass from that Era. It even looks like an old jazz bass. But it's brand new. One thing that you will get is it had daddario strings on it, and not the cheap kind. Right out of the box. Another is that it has the 70's jazz neck but with a 5th string. So after the 12th fret it becomes a baseball bat. Like other 5 string basses. The 5th string doesn't sound dead! The whole thing sounds lively and just plain good. You will find 4 string jazz basses that might sound better or have hotter pickups but this is the best 5 string bass I've found and it works well for what I use it for. One last thing, at this price point if you want something with active electronics go ahead and get something else. But if you're like me and want passive pickups this is really good. ... show more
