  • Emotionally destroying. Get it.
I have rarely sobbed at a videogame. This games mechanics, story driven narrative. Lovable characters and their own little plots. 10/10

  • A Beautiful, Heartwarming Journey
Spiritfarer for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute gem of a game that offers a unique and emotional experience, unlike anything else I’ve played. If you're wondering whether it's fun to play, the answer is a resounding yes — but it’s not your typical fast-paced action game. Instead, Spiritfarer is a calming, deeply rewarding adventure that mixes resource management, exploration, and heartfelt storytelling. Gameplay: You play as Stella, a "Spiritfarer," tasked with helping spirits pass on to the afterlife. The gameplay is a perfect balance between exploring beautiful hand-drawn environments, managing your boat and resources, and building relationships with the spirits on board. It’s not stressful, and it’s the kind of game you can take at your own pace. Fun Factor: What makes Spiritfarer fun is the variety of activities and the freedom you have. You can fish, farm, cook, craft, and even hug your spirit companions (yes, hugs are a thing, and they’re amazing!). There’s always something to do, but none of it feels rushed or overwhelming. It’s more of a relaxing and satisfying experience than a traditional high-energy game. Story & Emotion: The real heart of the game lies in its storytelling. The spirits you meet each have their own emotional backstories, and as you help them find peace, you become invested in their journeys. It’s a game that will make you smile, laugh, and maybe even shed a tear. Final Thoughts: If you enjoy games that focus on exploration, emotional depth, and thoughtful gameplay, “Spiritfarer” is a must-play. It’s fun in a more serene, fulfilling way, and the Switch is the perfect platform for its pick-up-and-play style. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful and relaxing gaming experience! ... show more

  • Calming Game
I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is a very relaxing game to play. It’s really easy to get attached to the characters you pick up on your ship over the coarse of the game. Which makes later parts harder, but, still. It’s worth at least trying the first two hours. At a minimum.

  • Beautiful game, mature themes of death.
I purchased this blind for my 12 year old as a gift on a recommendation I read online. Holy smokes! It’s beautiful! The graphics and the storyline! She plays on her own but sometimes I join in to help her. Emotional storyline and she and I have both cried several times.

  • a bit tedious, but bawling my eyes out anyway
The negatives first – the game can be pretty tedious at times with traveling back and forth across the map for fetch quests. If you don't like a character, you may want to rush to unlock features just to get them off your boat, which takes away from the relaxation aspect of the game. A lot of the background lore can only be found in the art book, so I wish it was more clear in the game itself. That being said, it's a colorful world with fun little mini games, great dialogue, and intuitive controls. The characters I did like really struck a chord when they left. It addresses death, loss, depression, grief, and other heavy subjects in a beautiful way. You may find yourself keeping a spirit that's ready to go for too long, or moving a departed passengers house to a faraway corner so you don't need to think about them anymore. It makes you reflect on real life habits and coping methods we all have when dealing with these issues. After finishing the game last night, I cried for a good 5 minutes. Legit sobbing. Give it a go if you want a stunning cozy game that will rip your heart out and maybe annoy you sometimes. ... show more

Spiritfarer takes you on a beautiful journey of accepting death and grief. The game is very comforting and I would recommend it to someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one.
