I don't recall how much I paid for this, but when looking for solutions to spinal stenosis, it's a useful survey. I would wish, and suggest, that western med tends to del emphasize spine health. This is crazy, and no, that doesn't mean I think chirps are the answer. What we need is a new type of professional, no doubt seen hints of in sports med - but one which emphasizes movement health, postural alignment, flexibility, stretching and balance. After two weeks doing Egoscue for hip pain, the changes I experienced were profound, noticeable not just by me but by a friend. IOW, do things to prevent stenosis ahead of time, when you are younger: combinations of the above plus nutrition joy, ( stay away from soft drinks, know that salt and caffeine can be detrimental to bone health.) I'd also recommend Sarno's books on back pain, and the book Crooked. Not sure if mentioned in this book, but a wealthy acquaintance of mind has had good luck with prolotherapy, but was already very athletic. ... show more

    • FANTASTIC book!!
Do you suffer from back problems? I know I do! During my most recent "back attack" I was extremely fortunate to have a friend of mine, Gary Hennerberg, point me to a book he had written on his experiences with back problems. What a fantastic book! It is plainly written about the various treatments he has tried, what they are, and how they helped out did not help his spinal stenosis. He covers everything from over the counter meds to the various apparatus' available, and even surgery. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has back pain or knows of someone who does! I also want to personally thank my friend and brother in harmony for his generosity and his help! Gary also has many equally incredible marketing and sales books which he has authored and has a highly reputable and successful marketing firm, and is a very talented bass singer with the Vocal Majority!     • Brief and very informative
I truly enjoyed this book. The author seems very open-minded and thoughtful about the subject--and I find it interesting to read about this issue from the perspective of the 'patient' rather than the practitioner. I'm reading several other books about stenosis, but this was an excellent start. Thank you to the author for writing this brief account of his experience with stenosis. ... show more

It is a stretch to call this a book. Pamphlet would be more accurate. It's a 10 minute read and not worth the purchase price. The premise was good and some of the experience shared helpful but nothing in depth or substantial enough to warrant calling this a book.

    • Quick, yet in depth. Great for multiple audiences
Each chapter is a quick read and gives enough information to start thinking about your own personal experience and research. I sent this book to my uncle who has also suffered for a long time with spinal stenosis. He was happy to read about alternative procedures from what his doctor had recommended. The format is easy to read, and a great starting point in research. It's also a great way to understand from an outsiders perspective a small part of what a spinal stenosis sufferer goes through with all the pain and expense of treatments, especially for such a reasonable price. ... show more

I, too, have spinal stenosis and have tried many of the treatments listed by the author. His list includes a few treatments that I didn't know about. Perhaps most important, however, is hearing from a fellow traveler (I don't want to say sufferer) what I already know, i.e., that whatever I do, I will have good days and bad days, and the things that will help me are apt to have significant out-of-pocket costs.
