I was looking for a decent pair of tall boots to be warm in the winter. I wasn't too optimistic about being able to fit into them, but I wanted to know for sure since they *looked* like they might be big enough from the photo and description. So, now I know. The zipper is a bit hard to get up, but I was able to just about close them. 16 inches means 16 inches. However, they are a bit too tight to be comfortable on my calves for any length of time, so I will have to return them. That being said, the actual shoe part felt pretty comfortable!
