The Spektrum ESC programming cable works as expected. Build quality is good and should last a long time. I just wish Spektrum would figure out how to use a single cable for programming all their devices.

    • There's a learning curve.
I use the cable to reset my AR631 and AR636 Receivers. That was the easy part. Requires some time, persistence, and patience to get the best out of it. Be prepared to spend some time on youtube.

This cable will not work without an adaptor which is included with the purchase of a stand alone radio but is not included if you buy an airplane that is ready to fly such as the Carbon Cub RTF. There is nothing in the instructions to tell you this, I bought this cable only to find it would not fit without the adaptor which is back ordered and costs an additional $5 or so (plus shipping?) I contacted Horizon Hobby and they are sending me one at no cost, but it shows "back ordered" on the web site. Also I was cautioned not to update the firmware yet as Horizon has not put any programing files online with this unit and updating the firmware would cause me to lose the presets for my airplane. It was not clear if I could reprogram this myself or not so for now I will use the cable only to register my radio. ... show more

I bought this for a bnf plane receiver that I was trying to unlock. Turns out I didn't really need it but it seemed to work fine when I used it. I don't really think this should be $20 but whatever I guess.
