It is made solid and reliable. I always put a Speck on every laptop in my family, and I will continue to as long as their quality stays high. This particular Speck design is just a little slicker and slippery to the touch compared to the kind of satin finish on other Specks I have had; just a marginally larger chance that it could slip out when being carried by hand. It protects well from scratches and normal wear and tear, but it's not padded or cushioned so be sure to coach your teenagers to be super careful not to drop the thing. The only potential shortcoming with Speck is that the tiny little clippy bits that hold the case to the laptop are breakable (see: teenagers and dropping). ... show more

I bought this for graduate school back in 2022. My friend recommended it. While it was a bit pricey, I thought I'd try it out. The case was cracked badly BEFORE the end of the semester, which is about 4/5 months. Considering how pricey it was, I was not happy. While I could have been more careful putting it in my book bag/ it setting down in my bag, I still think for $35 (when I bought it that was it list price) it should have been able to hold together for a lot longer than it did. I'm bummed and will not be buying another. I bought another brand for $15 that comes with a keyboard cover, so we'll see how that goes. If I could get my money back, I would. This was kind of insane that it didn't last even 6 months or a year. I am not someone who is careless with my electronics, so I think the product is pretty cheaply made to have broke so easily and quickly. ... show more

This looked good and fit well. However they don't last a year. I bought on in 2021 and it cracked (for no apparent reason). I bought a replacement in 2022. Again it cracked for no apparent reason. My computer has not been dropped or hit they just seem to crack and then pieces start to fall off.

When you buy a case for 2020 MacBook Air or the M1 MacBook Air 2020 it has to be just for those two 2020 Airs, as the 2020s models are slightly different thickness then 2018 or 2019. I tried 2x cases from lesser known manufacturers and they did fit well and cracked on application (they both claimed to work for 2018-2020). That I can find only this Speck and Incase brand make snap on cases specifically for the 2020 Air and M1 Air 2020. Of note so far this case is thicker where it matters along the leading edges toward the front of the Air where the computer thickness narrows. ... show more

Sturdy plastic, great matte coating, strong clips, fits M1 MacBook Air. Couple of issues with the case though, preventing a 5-star rating. When the lid is closed, the second USB-C port (closest to the track pad) is not accessible with the original Apple charger. The lid cover is blocking the cable. This also blocks my USB-C to Display port cable to my monitor. Big oversight IMO by a large brand. The second smaller issue I noticed is that the lid cover is a little heavy for the hinge. Picking up the laptop opened, with the lid cover installed, will shift the hinge/display. Overall, a solid case, but with flaws. ... show more
