  • Great effects
Great game the kids love it, it's a great buy

  • Fun & humorous City Management/ RTS Sci Fi. Controls are complicated.
Faithful rendition of the PC game Spacebase Startopia, which itself was a good remake of Startopia. Analog joystick controls were much, much harder for me to use than a mouse. Otherwise, I love this game and I love having it on my Switch. This is a city builder style of game set in a space station with alien residents and visitors. It has crafting and research features that make it a little more like a real time strategy game. The tone is very humorous, with many subtle and overt references to other science fiction media, with the AI assistant verging on excessively snarky. Missions slowly expand from very simple station management to much more complex goals. Each alien has a special skills for particular types of work. The things you need to manage include energy (which is also the currency for income), food, sleeping pods, hygiene services, garbage, air quality, workers, gardening, resident and visitor satisfaction, special visitors (e.g. looking for specific services, infested with aliens), trade opportunities, pests, criminals & sabotage (various bombs), and a wide range of resources. In some cases, the timers for each mission seem to be balanced for PC play (mouse/keyboard) and seem less realistic for analog joysticks, which take more time to do things and also end up feeling very complicated and a little frustrating. ... show more

  • not worth the $
boring and does not tell you how to use the game. I had to go on line to learn & research how the game works, in the end I traded the game to Game Stop.

  • Difficult interface
Like: 1) graphics are better than the original game, 2) it doesn’t lag like the original game, 3) there are 3 player roles now, 4) there’s more background to the story now, and 5) once you have figured out how to access information and get the controls, it’s not too difficult to get the goals Dislike: 1) there’s no controls manual or booklet (in game or instructional print out), 2) using the switch screen and not a television makes the text almost too small to read easily, 3) the overall hangers seem smaller than the original game Neutral: The AI narrator is a little bit more of a character than in the original from the Win95 game. Overall: I would buy it again. This is a great nostalgia game. It has a lot of reading, so younger kids will probably need adult assistance. ... show more

  • Not my type of game
Choosing this game was MY mistake. It looks better than it plays in my humble opinion. I'm a gamer grampa and prefer Zelda and thinking games versus spells and that sort of thing. I won't be playing it, a d if the grandkids don't like it, I'll sell it.

  • Good game but…
A good game but it feels like it is missing some of the charm found in the original game that so clearly inspired this one. I don’t find the story as exciting as the original and some of the missions are not as well thought out as they could be. Thankfully the free play mode more than makes up for that. I am satisfied with my purchase but can’t help but feel like the game could have been even better… ... show more
