Wood is indeed rustic and unfinished, seems very light. In fact, the screws went right in without much pressure. No pilot holes, so I started slow with a small power screw driver, and it was only a few turns until the screw bit into the wood. I'm using them in a closet, so how the wood looks is not that important, and they won't have much weight on them. I would not be happy seeing them on open shelving, and I have doubts about them holding up to kitchen use with anything heavy. I liked how these fit in the pantry and allowed us to use the space more efficiently. However they do not hold up to much use. After only a couple months, they are starting to break apart. If you are planning for light use, they will be just fine.

I had trouble finding under the cabinet shelving that fit the dimensions in my kitchen. I like that these can be used standing or hanging. i do not like that if used hanging, the wire is round and will not allow the door to shut all the way without some sort of augmentation. I also thought the assembly was a little annoying (the wood is soft but I would still drill/tap pilots) and I also ended up poly-ing since I had some open for another project and would highly recommend for longevity and ease of cleaning. ... show more

These are easy to put together, just a few screws to attach the sides/legs. These shelves have essentially doubled the space of a single shelf. I don’t like stacking cans upon cans because not all are the same diameter so stability can be an issue. Not fond of those racks that will rolls out the cans because I don’t buy 12 of the same soup or vegetable at time so taking out the can I need could require pulling say 4 out to get to the one I want, etc. Using these little shelves cans are only 3-4 deep. Much easier to organize. Also good for boxes like stuffing, cake mix, snack crackers, etc. that can fit under or on top of these shelves. I’m happy with my purchase. ... show more

    • Lowish quality unfinished wood

I wasn't expecting such low quality wood. They call it "wood board" but it feels light and hollow, almost like balsa wood. It also seems to be untreated, so I'd be scared to get any moisture on them. Assembly was straight forward but the boards are not predrilled for the screws. I guess because the wood board is very soft, you can easily just use the self-tapping screws without holes. I didn't trust the wood board not to split, so I drilled holes in it myself just to be be safe. I did notice that one of the boards was a bit warped, so it did not sit flush to base. The shelf ended up being slightly wobbly, but not terrible. In the end, these work as advertised, and helped create more space on my shelf. For the price, you can't be too disappointed. ... show more

I put odie’s oil on prior to assembling to protect the wood. I pre-drilled holes as I was holding the metal for hole placement. Using it to hold my towel under my live edge wood vanity. Does what I need so far. Sturdy enough to hold my towel and small things like toothpaste.

I love this addition to my pantry. They're sturdy enough for me to pile pasta on. I have both hanging under a shelf. I just wish there was a back because sometimes things will get pushed too fast back and fall off.

Suuuuper light weight. 6 cans and it starts to sag. We'll see how long it takes to start bowing permanently. The good thing is you can replace the wood easily.
