  • Great winter boot.
I was hesitant to buy these boots after reading some reviews indicating that they are clunky, too large, not warm enough, and rip apart your ankles. I have to say that I was expecting to send these back, but was very pleasantly surprised. I love them. I typically wear between a 4.5 to 5 USA shoe size, and the 5 in these fit me nicely with a very thick pair of wool socks. They are a bit awkward to walk in at first, and I did notice some small abrasion around the ankle area, but I put in some gel arch supports, and they felt fine. I think once they are broken in, they will be even more comfortable. I also keep in mind that they are snow boots and made to be rugged and to withstand snow and harsh weather so they can't be too flimsy and soft so I was not expecting them to feel like UGGS. I was also worried that I would not be able to drive manual in these as others have reported that their clunkiness makes them difficult to drive in; however, I did not find this to be the case (I could still easily switch between and feel the clutch, gas and break pedal just fine). For me, these boots are cute, functional, toasty warm, and most importantly, waterproof (which is why they are a bit clunky at the bottom b/c they are partially rubber). These will be a life saver for me when the snow accumulates, and I have to trek through it to get to my car. I am happy I snagged them at near 1/2 price. They are a keeper, and I hope to get much use out of them during the crazy Midwest winters. They do what they were made to do: keep your feet dry and warm. UPDATE 1/2/14: Wore my boots out in a foot of snow to shovel and dig out my car, as well as trek around town for a few hours in very cold, blizzard-like conditions, and my feet not only stayed warm, but they were also dry! I couldn't be happier with these boots and hope to get many, many years of use out of them. Well worth the investment! ... show more

  • Highly recommended Snow Boot (with Jambu -vegan version- comparisons)
I purchased these Sorel Joan of Arctic boots along with Jambu's vegan version Edith Snow Boot JBU by Jambu Women's Edith Snow Boot, Dark Grey, 6.5 M US. Both are great snow boots with a very similar fit, style, comfort level & provide additional warmth. Personally, I don't find either boot to be super cute, but for a snow boot, I wasn't looking for adorable. I call them my duck boots...both make my feet look bigger. lol For playing in the snow, I seriously don't care about looks...I want warmth, dry feet, comfort and good traction. Both provide this. They do look best with skinny jeans and/or fleece lined leggings. Price comparison: I paid $119.95 (Sorel) vs. $36 (Jambu) --found both at a sale price =) *If price is a major factor, I'd recommend going with Jambu. Although vegan, the quality is very similar in craftsmanship. Appearance and width factor: I do prefer the Sorel over Jambu. I have a normal width foot. Both Sorel and Jambu are very roomy in the footbed, and great for thick socks. Jambu is slightly wider in the toebox. The faux fur is very similar, but Sorel fluffs out a little more. I also prefer the detailing seams and the look of real suede on Sorel's Joan of Arctic boot. Sizing: I wear a size 6.5M in all of my boots (I only, very rarely, go up or down 1/2 size when a shoe is known to run small or large). Both boots are roomy for 6.5M, which I did expect for snow boots (and for wearing thicker socks). My Sorel are roughly 1/4" longer, while Jambu are about 1/4" wider. While wearing these, the length is not noticeable in Sorel (which also has a removable sock liner; as does Jambu), but in the Jambu, I do feel noticeable extra width. I can still wear both comfortably, but my preference aims more toward Sorel for my foot....regular/normal width (closer to wide than narrow, but not wide), high arch and narrow heel. Both have a little extra room in the heel, as I'd expect, but once laced up, the boots are secure without slippage going on. I have fairly slender calves, and I can get each to lace up almost snug for me. Both have plenty of leeway for wider calves. Traction & Snow Play: I haven't had the chance to play a lot in the snow, but both are great from testing them out. Great traction and feet stay warm and dry. Both are fairly easy to get on, but for taking off, you will need to loosen the laces very wide to remove....they are harder to get off than on. I give both 5 stars for different reasons. If the price isn't a factor, I'd recommend Sorel over Jambu (especially if you don't have a very wide foot). If price is a factor and/or you prefer vegan, Jambu is a super good option (especially, if you have a wider foot). ... show more

  • Start with your normal size
Size: 10.5 Color: Fawn/Omega Taupe
All I can say is try your normal size. I am normally 11. My Sorel Winter Carnivals are a 10, so I bought these in 10. Way too tight. So, these are probably true to size, but they didnt have in 11 so 🤷🏻♀️

  • Best snow boots out there!
Size: 8.5 Color: Fawn/Omega Taupe
Sorels always are worth it! These are well made, warm, easy to clean, and keep your feet dry! The last time I bought Sorel boots was 30 years ago, BECAUSE THEY LASTED THAT LONG! It was only being stored in a shed in Phoenix summer heat that finally cracked the rubber and necessitated my bying a new pair. These are even cuter than my first pair, and though they are a little heavy (as with all worthwhile snow boots), they hold up in the weather. They fit true to size, but if you like a little space, order up half a size. The laces help adjust so a little bit big never hurts. ... show more

  • Just what I was looking for.
Size: 11 Color: Black, Quarry
I bought myself boots much like this last year for about half the cost of these, which I thought was a decent amount to spend on boots. However, the off-brand boots I purchased started wearing down almost immediately. So, I did my research when boot shopping this time around. These boots were best rated in 2020. And I’m hoping they last me quite awhile considering how much money I put into them. When reading reviews here on Amazon, the sizing and fit seemed to go either way. Some people said they fit perfectly and didn’t need to order a size up. Some people said they were too tight to get on and needed a bigger size. I ordered just a half size bigger than my typical shoe size and I couldn’t even get my foot in them. Even after loosening the laces, I still could not get my foot into the boot. After retuning the first pair and reordering a full size bigger than my typical shoes size, I was easily able to get my foot into the boot. These boots are super heavy. They’re not at all lightweight. So if you’re looking for something more fashionable than industrial, you may not want these boots. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend for anyone looking for boots to work/play in snow and cold, rather than just looking cute in the cold. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Size: 8.5 Color: Black/Bleached Ceramic
Absolutely Love! Super cute, really warm, you can do farm chores, go hunting, wear on a date, and super comfortable. Differently size up if you have wide feet and want to wear thicker socks.

  • boot liner too small, runs short in the toes
I really liked these boots, but they do run short. I wear a size 9 and the size 9.5 ran short in the toes. The boot liner actually runs shorter in the toes than the actual boot by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I have a pair of the Sorel Tofino boots in a size 9.5 and have plenty of room for my toes but they do not have a liner. So these actually fit shorter in the toes b/c of the liner, but are wider in the foot. I wanted something a bit heavier and warmer than the Tofino's, so thought to try these. But since they run short in the toes, order at least a full size up! Also I compared these to an older pair of Sorel short boots with a removable liner, and found: the outer rubber on the older Sorel boots was thicker, and the inner liner was thicker and provided more warmth. To compare further, I put one of the Sorel Tofino boots on one foot (size 9.5), and one of these Sorel Joan of Artic boots on the other foot (size 9.5) and not only was this boot shorter and wider, but both boots provided basically the same level of warmth: and the Sorel Tofino boots do not have a removable liner. So I was disappointed that the Sorel Joan of Artic winter boots had thinner rubber on the outside of the foot, and a thinner interior liner than some older styles; and did not provide as much warmth. While they look very attractive, they only seem to offer warmth for milder winter conditions, and not for extreme cold like the older Sorel boots with removable liners. Very sorry about this, Sorel! ... show more
