Have lived near the beach for 45 years. Most of that time owning dogs. These shoes are game changers in the winter months. In Northern California, in the summer I can wear sandals/shorts when I walk my dog in the mornings on the beach. We have some really fun off-leash areas around town and during the summer I have no problem following her through shallow streams or getting the ball/stick if she leaves it too close to the water. In the winter we’ve always had a complete different experience. If I’m wearing my rain gear we wouldn’t go for very long walks, because the boots just aren’t comfortable enough. If it’s not raining I’d wear anything else. I’ve tried regular Ugg boots. They’re super comfortable but beach walks are a great way to ruin those expensive boots quickly. I’ve tried the cheap knock off versions of uggs. Or cheap boots that claim to be waterproof. They’re easier to replace but not very comfortable. And not very waterproof. Every other pair of morning beach shoes I’ve tried has had some sort of drawback. And I’ve never found anything that is the complete combination of warm/comfortable/stable/waterproof. Enter these guys. Every morning I’m able to strap them on before I leave the front porch. They’re always clean because, like the dog, they can be rinsed off by the garden hose. We can walk anywhere on the beach together, similar to the summer in shorts/sandals, because I can go long distances and cross streams at their shallow points. In normal shoes when you hit a stream you either turn back or have to hop over some sort of sketchy rock combos. But these guys just plow through, with the stability you want to not feel like you’re gonna tip over. I’m sure there are other really comfortable rain boots out there, but for beach walking in the winter mornings these really check all the boxes. The high top sides keep sand from getting in (a lot better than uggs, which have a loose top). The laces are the grab/pull type. The hooks are all well built, as you’d expect from Sorel. There’s just no drawbacks with these shoes, on the beach in the cold/rain. They’re comfortable enough to go as far as you want on hard or soft sand. Stable enough to not twist your ankles. Agile enough to run/play around plenty, and hop up ledges/rocks/tree stumps. And then they also keep you super warm and dry. And when you get home you just rinse em off with the hose in fifteen seconds. No idea why my dad didn’t have a pair when I was growing up. I remember Sorels, for sure, but they are/were more of a snow brand. Glad I finally found them though. I can’t even imagine anything being much better designed for what I use them for.

First, there are a lot of reviews mentioning sizing being all over the place, so I imagine it could have to do with where they were manufactured, what other brands of shoes you're going by for your size, etc. I typically wear 9.5 in Rockports, Sketchers and other shoes. I went ahead and ordered the 9.5 in these as a starting point. The 9.5 fit perfectly with a single pair of regular cotton socks, so I'm sticking with the first pair. If I was going to be wearing two pairs of socks or really thick winter socks, I could certainly have gone a half or full size up. But with the thick, comfortable liners, I honestly don't see that as necessary unless you live near the arctic, or plan to be out in seriously cold temperatures for extended periods. I haven't really worn them for long periods yet, so I can't really comment on durability or long term comfort, but I do love them so far. They are quite comfortable, warm and have good traction on the surfaces I've been on. They also look great, and seem to be well made. I will update if anything else comes up.

my wife's feet are always cold. she wears these with 1 or 2 pairs of socks depending on temp and she says her feet stay warm. the inner boot is really comfortable and warm and can be removed. her feet have not gotten wet yet after wearing a few times in snow and slush and puddles. they're more expensive than other boots but what am i gonna do? they keep her feet warm which makes them worth it. would definitely recommend for cold feet

I originally thought these were way too narrow of a fit. After 1 year, the width is fine. They feel slightly narrow when new, however, they will stretch after a break-in period. My old Sorels (made in Canada, not Vietnam) were size 10 and wide enough for my EE width. This boot, size 11 did eventually stretch to width (normal for leather, however, they are slightly too long for me and there are no options on width. Product looks well-constructed, I hope it lasts 20+ years like the ones I still have and are still in good shape. They look like they should. I only bought a new pair because my old ones were steel toe/shank required for work and I wanted a lighter pair (without steel) for working around home. I'm disappointed in the "new" Sorels for size with no width option. The product looks well made, but be careful about size, especially if you have a wide foot or like to wear thick socks. I strongly recommend measuring your foot (trace it on a piece of paper and measure, subtract 1/2 cm for pencil outline) and use Amazon's sizing chart (a link on the page where you are shopping for the boots) to make sure it will be wide enough for you. 5 stars if width was an option on any model of Sorel. So...width is correct, but no option for EE or 4E or any wide sizes.

Love Sorel Caribou, CLASSIC... they are not dainty, don't have this super custom fit, but if you live in the mtns....REAL MTNS and love the snow... you'll love these boots !! Especially for times when standing around in the snow and ice, like ice fishing... or if you're feet are in or under the snow all day.... not as thick of rubber as they used to be, but still great boots!! I have a kicking post, too knock off snow before I go inside, first time I did that broke the toenail on my big toe, definitely not as burly as past renditions, but still warm, great traction... could use the toe ring for shoes and other backcountry applications.

As soon as you open the box, you notice that you purchased a great product. This boot comes with an inner liner that is nice and thick. I ordered mine at my exact shoe size (8). I read other reviews before I purchased too. My goal was to wear this boot with thicker socks. I have pure wool socks that are amazing that I can wear in this boot. Or I can just wear some regular cotton socks if it is not too cold outside. I do notice that when I first tried them on I did tighten the laces too tight and that became an uncomfortable wear experience. When I loosened them up, everything changed. These boots are nice and comfortable when they are laced up properly. They are built to last for many years. They have a thick liner for very cold weather. Although I have not been in subzero weather, you can tell that if you had silk socks and then covered them with wool socks, your feet would stay toasty in sub zero weather for a good while in these boots. I purchased these boots for daily use when there is snowy weather because I like to take walks in the snow and also I like to photograph in the snow too. I need a boot that has a good traction underneath because I want to avoid slipping when I'm out taking photos to avoid ruining expensive lenses. This boot is perfect for that purpose. The traction underneath is the very best for snow and the waterproofing is a must in the slush.
