I live in a studio apartment, so storage is always a challenge. I was looking for something lightweight, easy to assemble, and reasonably priced. I was a little hesitant to purchase this because of some of the reviews, but they honestly didn’t do this product justice—I’m very glad I went ahead and bought it. This unit provides a surprising amount of storage. I use it for a variety of items, from glass food storage containers to books. It looks great in my apartment and is aesthetically pleasing. It doesn’t look cheap or low quality at all. I specifically didn’t want something made of heavy particle board that would feel bulky and cumbersome, and this fits exactly what I was looking for while still holding a lot. Even though it’s made of plastic, it’s quite durable and stable. It doesn’t wobble or tip, and it supports moderately heavy items well. That said, common sense applies—heavier items like books are best stored on the bottom. Assembly took a little time at first, but once I figured out the process, it came together quickly and easily. One thing I saw in other reviews was concern about the small door clasps. I agree they’re not very functional. However, this really isn’t an issue. The doors stay closed on their own and are fairly firm, so the clasps aren’t necessary. In fact, they’re more trouble than they’re worth. Cons: Challenging to put together. It took me several hours and one injury. The plastic hammer they give you does very little in the way of helping. It has a metal tip, but without any weight behind it, it's basically a plastic toy hammer. So you're stuck using your physical weight, which can lead to pain. Pros: Very sturdy. Looks nice. Totally worth the pain and effort to put it together. Would still recommend. All the parts were there. It's large and holds all of my yarn (I have a ton). Even though it's large, it's light and easy to move where you want it. I had not trouble lifting it on top of my dresser. You could use it to store many things, but the shelfs do bend a little when you have heavier items, so I wouldn't recommend anything too heavy. You can always test it out. Also, I knew what I was getting into, because I read the reviews and there were warnings about how difficult it could be to put together. It's not complicated. Just physically difficult when you're tiny and weak like me. XD ... show more

Overall, I am very happy with the cubbies. It is perfect for closet organization and seems sturdy. However, this is extremely difficult to put together. The plastic connectors do not go on easily, it takes a lot of strength and finagling, even with the included mallet, to get them to snap on to the dividers. I couldn’t do it all in one sitting, it was frustrating and physically taxing. Way more difficult than a regular flat pack furniture assembly. I personally wish I just bought a cheap wooden cubby shelf. BUT, and this is a big but, there are some things that give this system the edge if you are willing to deal with the assembly: 1. The customization options are endless. You can choose exactly how to configure the cubbies, you are not locked in to a square. 2. It is very lightweight, would be great for a dorm room. I can pick it up with one hand, or you could break it down and pack it in a small box. Moving would be super easy. 3. Depending on how you configure this, you can break it into multiple shelving units, so great value for money. 4. You can seamlessly expand it by buying additional sets. ... show more

Nice for the price. Somewhat sturdy. Perfect to store light items like yarn, purses, I would not recommend for children's toys, it will fall apart if you push down on it. The rim is a metal frame with a thin plastic like middle piece that acts as the sides and shelves. Snaps together pretty easily once you get the idea of it. It was easy to put together once I figured it out. Unfortunately my directions came in a different language. I had to follow the pictures and I still can’t figure out what to do with the little hooks for the doors. The pictures for that were a bit confusing. It would have been nice to get instructions in English though. But for the price i guess it’s okay if you are used to putting together home furniture it should be pretty easy to figure out by looking at the pictures.
