  • Love it.
My space obsessed son loves this puzzle. He is 5. It's a very easy little puzzle but its more about the planets pieces for him.

  • Great value, well made, relative size of the planets could be better depicted
Let me start by saying this is a very nice puzzle, especially for the price. It is a really great value. I ordered this for my two year old’s moon themed birthday party. This puzzle was a hit! The colors of the planets are well depicted. They used real photos of the planets to create the puzzle pieces so the colors and patterns are spot on. I like that the pictures are also shown under each puzzle piece. This allows younger kids to just match the picture on the planet piece with the picture in the empty space, rather than just go by planet size or placement in the solar system. My two year old loved identifying the planets, but was unable to complete the puzzle without lots of assistance, so probably best for kids 3 and up. It’s a smaller puzzle, but a good size for young kids hands and easier to store. The small size does mean that the relative be sizes of the planets are not represented correctly. This puzzle shows all the planets (and the sun!) all being fairly close in size. The circles are slightly different, Jupiter and Saturn are larger, but not by that much. In reality Jupiter’s diameter is 11x bigger than the Earth and Saturn 9x larger. While Mercury is 1/3 the size and Mars 1/2 the size of Earth. And needless to say the sun should be huge! While I don’t expect, or think it’s practical, for a kids puzzle to perfectly show each planet’s size (Mercury would end up being a very small circle and Jupiter would take up most of the puzzle) it would be nice if the puzzle pieces more accurately represented the relative dimensions of the planets. The size of each circular puzzle piece should be more noticeably different. So if you looking for perfect realism, this puzzle may not be for you. But, if you are looking for a cute, nicely made puzzle, that will start up a discussion about the solar system, this is a great puzzle. ... show more

  • Nice Preschool Learning Activities
I bought this puzzle for my preschool classroom. The pictures printed on the puzzle are so nice and detailed, even Jupiter's hurricane is visible! The puzzle itself isn't huge but I think it is a good size for young kids. Easy to store and easy for them to put together. Price point is also good. I'll buy two more puzzles and put them at the science center for my students. ... show more

  • Very funny and educational
I have a wishes for the potential of this product. 1. I wish I the board was a bit larger (8"x11'') however having it this small is easily portable in my purse for travel and play at places out and about. 2. I wish the "moon" also was a removable piece in the puzzle. 3. I wish the puzzle had some texture to it would be a nice additive to matching the pieces together. ... show more

  • Fantastic Solar System Puzzle for Toddler
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this puzzle for my 3-year-old nephew. The puzzle pieces are durable and perfect for little hands, ensuring a long-lasting learning experience. Wooden pieces are printed with real pictures, so my nephew can learn what the Earth and Sun look like! I'm glad they still keep Pluto on the board. Even though NASA took it off the list, the little guy should also know about the existence of the most distant planet from the sun. Concisely, it is a great educational tool! Love it! ... show more

  • Great for solar system education
Likes: I like this small, simple set. The design and coloring of the planets, I think, stay true to what we know about the planets and the sun (e.g. Jupiter has its great size and the storm spot on its surface). You can follow the linear paths from the sun to teach about the order of their orbit and you can flip the pieces over to make a fun game of speed-returning the pieces to where they belong on the board. My 3 yr. old seems fascinated with the planets and so this was a great learning toy for her. Dislikes: none so far, but be mindful of teaching your little ones that while Pluto is in the mix, it is a dwarf planet - not to be confused with the now 8 in our solar system. I suppose it can be a fun little historic piece of information you could share (how it used to be but no longer is) and what differentiates a regular planet from a dwarf one - a planet must orbit a star, be big enough that its gravity makes it round, and its gravity clears other objects the same size as it as it orbits. ... show more

  • Small but sturdy
This puzzle is smaller than I realized it would be. My fault for not reading the description closely. I took a photo with it, sitting on a standard printer sheet of paper for scale. Also note the size of some of the pieces in reference to an American quarter - these could definitely be a problem for smaller kids. But the pieces are thick wood and come up over the edges of the base puzzle so they are easy to grasp. Obviously almost everything is round so it’s not about recognizing shape. It’s about learning the planets and I guess a little matching of images. This would be easy to store in a bag and pull out at a restaurant or on a car trip. ... show more
