I absolutely love it. You know when people say "it's the little things in life", they are talking about this! I can't believe I spent so many years without it. When I (finally) realized this idea existed, I shopped through so many variations but most are made for square armrests or have reviews of falling etc. I thought I wanted an organizer but I figured I'd try this since it was cheap enough. While looking at this I wondered how wide the flat/nonfoldable middle wooden panel is (the one that holds the black tray). it's about 4.75" if you are wondering. Ok, 1. I love the color and finish. Looks much much nicer than it costs. 2. The black tray part is about 3 7/8" wide x 12 7/16" long. Long enough to sit remotes and phone so really no extra organizer needed. It's versatile enough that I plan on using it as a mouse pad too for lazy couch computer work. 3. Perfect friction. Doesn't slip and I feel comfortable enough leaving a wine glass on the edge of the couch!! Didnt think I would but it really is sturdy enough. Then it's no hassle at all to lift it up and move it if I want to. 4. Lays perfectly flat if you want to use it as a tray between two people on a long L shaped couch. So it's just a great universal couch tray. (Perfect for me, this is what I had in mind when I opted to bypass the organizer/pockets on the side like some other models). 5. It fits my tiny little back rest too!! Still doesn't slip and fall so this is truly adjustable to any dimension. 6. Like every other busy and/or lazy individual out there, I can appreciate that there is no assembly required! :) 7. I wrote this long a** review coz I was so excited about it. Now just buy it. 8. I purchased this to provide a stable surface for using a computer mouse on the arm of a sofa. It is excellent for that purpose. Laying my arm on the square edges bothered me a little at first, but that was easy to remedy by rounding the edges with sandpaper. I also use it from time to time for beverages although I try to avoid that because if you set too close to it, you can dislodge it when standing up. Does not secure well to leather armrest on chair. Slides too easily when touched, items on top fall off. Might be OK for narrower armrests, but not for thicker arm rests; maybe better on cloth than leather.

Although it does function as described, it renders your armrest unusable and uncomfortable for what it was designed - your arm! I also wouldn't dream of putting a drink on this surface because if you move and happen to shift the arm tray at all, you'll risk spilling your drink.

    • Keeps slipping

The item is well designed except the surface does not have enough friction. For example if I put a phone on it, and I am using it on a recliner, it still slips down. The same is the case with any item that is placed on it. Secondly the bottom surface is very smooth and the whole unit slips when the recliner is at an angle. Finally the edges are very hard and poke you when they come in contact with your skin. A rubber or soft coating all around would help. Thanks ... show more

I have taken to balancing drinks on the sofa arm as the side table it very low and hard to see/reach when sitting.
