    • Cute! Tentatively good for wide feet and big ankles but do size up a 1/2 size!
I normally don’t review things the second I get them, I usually try to give them a while to function in whatever way they’re supposed to (so I might edit this later) but these were a desperate, last minute purchase before I go out of town and I want to share the info I’m personally seeing immediately to anyone who also needs it. The pertinent info: I have wide feet, women’s shoes are often not made for me, I’d literally have to amputate my little toe to fit into a lot of just normal, cute womens shoes. I don’t have duck feet, I don’t think they look enormous when I’m barefoot, but I 100% notice it in shoes. To deal, a lot of times I’ll get mens athletics shoes if I can find them small enough, or womens shoes in wide, and I keep an eye out for brands/styles that other people say run wide. In a wide shoe, by style or brand, I usually wear an 8 1/2, and in things like slippers that only come in full sizes, if it’s something with a wide toe box, I can sometimes wear an 8. In some womens shoes that are almost wide enough but don’t offer a wide option, I’ll size up a half size to 9 and (sometimes) that works, or sometimes 9 1/2, though that tends to leave my feet sliding around a bit. With the mix of reviews for these ranging from “omg they’re way too small, definitely size up at least 2 sizes!” To “they’re perfect! Order your usual size!” To “omg, way too big, I should have ordered 2 sizes smaller than I usually do!” I had NO faith in any of the suggestions, so I took a chance on ordering a 9 and I’m glad I did, the 9 fits perfectly. Interestingly, I think it fits perfectly lengthwise as well as in width, so for my money, I’d fall in with people saying these run a *little small. But they are seriously, seriously cute, I love the look! My second concern was the buckle strap around the ankle, which I love the look of but I do I have thick ankles/calves, so I was afraid they wouldn’t close. I would say the straps are big, and for me they fit, but that they are tight, though not uncomfortably so, and I’m honestly pleased they fit and buckle at all. I wouldn’t mind for my sake if the strap was a little longer still, though I suspect it’d already be excessive for someone with skinny ankles. (My feet are also a bit swollen from the usual monthly hormonal changes, so it’s possible by the weekend event I need these for, the strap will be looser, so even better!) I have… probably a medium-high instep or arch or whatever you call the height of your foot? For me the toe strap is both high and wide enough, about perfect really for keeping the shoe securely on without being tight or pressing anywhere it shouldn’t, but if you have a particularly high instep *and wide feet, I could see it maybe being tight? If this all sounds bizarre to you and you’ve never had to worry about how wide your shoes are, you’re probably fine wearing the size you always wear and maybe even watch out for the straps being too big. If you feel my struggle with not wanting to amputate a toe just to wear womens athletic shoes, size up at least a half size or however far you normally do to account for the width. I might have been okay with a 9 1/2 even, but I am glad I didn’t go that big because these actually fit about perfectly. The quality seems good, for $20-$30 shoes I don’t expect the world, the ones I received certainly don’t feel or look like they’re ready to fall apart, but I won’t be testing them for a few days so I’ll try to remember to come back with further impressions and I definitely will if they dissolve in the first hour I wear them. So far, I’m super pleased with the look and fit, they’ll be perfect for the flowy summer maxi skirt I’m going to wear them with but they’d totally work with jeans, nice but not too dressy, cute but not too casual, a pretty good versatile shoe. If they’re comfy enough for the party I’m wearing them to that I don’t change out of them at any point, I might eventually look at getting another color too. ... show more
