This is my third pair of the same exact boots. I have bought them in both brown and black. I wear these to work in my office and am working back and forth throughout the building all day and they are very comfortable. The rounded toe prohibits any pinching and the zipper and tie combination allows me to make them fit perfectly around my ankle. The shoelaces are very long and I did have to cut them. I do spray them a waterproof material for boots but I have never had any issues with water getting into them. They look a little dressy with a pair of boot cut or skinny jeans so you can wear them out after work but not too dressy so you can wear them for running around the office as well. I took the chance on these and am happy that I did. The fit is perfect. I typically wear size 5.5 or 6, with 6 being most common. (Sometimes certain styles run big...) I have narrow heels, super high arches, and (as far as I know) a normal size toe area. My ankles are 7.5" - if your ankles are the same or smaller, these are not ideal if you like your boots to lace snugly around that area. Pros: Phenomenal tread. Love the chunky heels for stability+height. I've got super high arches, and I was able to stuff a honkin' big pair of insoles into these without changing the fit. (My favorite brand of insoles has rendered more than one pair of boots too small, so them fitting well isn't necessarily a given.) Cons: I love these boots, but they'd be even better if the ankle could lace up more tightly. That's an issue I frequently run into, so it's more of a "me" problem than an actual shortcoming with the boots. While I'm being unrealistically picky, better cushioning/arch support would also make these even more fantastic. Final take: If these stand up to frequent use, I'll definitely buy another pair! I'll try to remember to update in a few months. If you don't have wide feet, buy your usual size. If you have thin ankles, these won't lace snugly but they also aren't the worst offenders you'll find. Wearing a second pair of socks and folding them down to double over the ankle helps a lot but in an ideal world, I'd rather only wear 1 pair of socks at a time. 5 Month Update: I still love these! They've held up, though they no longer get super frequent use. I loved these so much that I bought some actual Doc Martens, which lace snugly around my ankles the way I want. These are still great to throw on quickly, and when they eventually wear out I'd definitely buy another pair. ... show more

I bought this pair of boots because of a mixup with another order of a pair of boots... But my story has a happy ending! I originally ordered the SODA Balboa but got the Malia style instead. After debating on keeping or returning them, I tried them on and eventually took a gamble on keeping them. Let me say, I was pleasantly surprised! The boots are easy to put on and take off (I love the look of laces but always, ALWAYS look for a zipper closure on my shoes). Also, they work well with an insole insert for added comfort with a small exception. That is, they are a *little* tight across the vamp with the insole, especially after wearing them 10-12 hours during the work day. Ratings are as follows: Style: 5 out of 5 Design: 5 out of 5 Fit: 4 out of 5 Durability: 5 out of 5 - scuffs and dust/dirt are easily wiped; back of the heel is not easily damaged from driving or walking Comfort: less than 6 hours of wear: 4.5 out of 5; 6+ hours of wear: 3.5* out of 5 (*especially with an insole >tightens the vamp) Note: loosening the laces did not help with the slight increase in tightness of the vamp with an insole (your foot just ends up looking unattractive and wide). I think these boots are pretty comfortable without an insole however for long periods of wear in which you're on your feet, the insole is 100% a necessity for me. I expected the slight increase the tightness overall with an insole. For the record, I wore these with just a regular pair of boot socks. They would not work with an insole if wearing super thick boot socks. I haven't tried them with tights but expect they would be even more comfortable with the insole without feeling quite as tight. Overall, I rate the boots a 4 out of 5 stars. These were a bit higher price point but worth it because they are quite comfortable overall. I plan to wear them year round and really get my money's worth! If you're looking for a sturdy but stylish pair of boots, don't pass the Malia up. I found that although the heel is chunkier than what I wanted, they're tall enough to elongate the legs in a flattering way; they have great ankle support and they are a cinch to walk in. I think they're a great mix of form, function and fashion! Even though I didn't get the shoe I wanted at first, that mix-up turned out to be a worthwhile purchase that led me to get this pair. I usually don’t wear heels (have trouble walking in them,) but really liked these and thought I’d give it a try. They took some getting used to because of the way they’re made and how your foot sits in them, but I’m kind of impressed. I’ve been breaking them in, bought them to use in my Halloween costume this year. They fit and seem more comfortable / easier each time I wear them. I like the color. They’re very pretty — I’ve gotten a hand-full of compliments the couple of times I’ve worn them out. They came a little earlier than I thought, if I remember right, and safely packaged. If you love this type of style or are not used to heels, I’d recommend. The thicker heels make it easier to walk in them. 😄 Plus, they’re pretty versatile, and that never hurts! ... show more

This was my second time buying shoes from Amazon, after a disastrous first time I was hesitant to try again; especially with boots. Unfortunately for me, I was born into a family of big-footed women, so my feet are both large and wide. Having wide feet was another reason why I almost chose not to purchase these, as they seem so narrow at the toe that I could get blisters within seconds of wearing them. I ordered a size 9 and my typical size is 9W. Now, the toe box touched the outside of my pinky toe slightly; it wasn't insanely tight, but it wasn't incredibly loose, either. I also had just gotten back from running errands in a different pair of heels that I'd never worn, so my feet could also have just been swollen. I will wear them out and see how they feel. Otherwise, even without them being wide, they were actually very comfy and the heel was a nice height/thickness. I walked around in them a bit and they weren't too tight around my feet, I had room to breathe. I love, love, love them! The good - I'm 39 in European sizes, and usually wear 8 or 8.5 US. Ordered 8.5 this time, since I figured it's easier to get a thick sock than to fit into potentially too small shoes. The fit is great even with regular socks. It has very good grip on the foot when laced up properly, and the sole is also ridged so as to avoid slipping. For a non-leather shoe and for this price, it's well made. The bad: It looks odd life sized and out of the box. Something in the design when it's not at those angles in the pictures just looks strange. The extra (non-functional) zipper on each shoe is redundant and IMHO ugly (especially at the angle and location it's placed). The heel is also higher than I thought it would be (hard to tell from pics, probably should've checked the product description better). For people used to wearing such high heels, I think these might be good. My highest previous heel was about an inch shorter. I could walk on them because they do have a good grip, but I didn't feel 100% stable and after a day of wearing them, it was torture to walk to my bus stop, really severe foot pains. ... show more
