    • Sock Aid is very compact/light weight; but, seems to work better for narrower feet
This is the first sock aid I ever bought and I recommend it for those with narrower feet or use looser socks; or have intermittent arthritic knee issues that might need to use of a sock aid unexpectently. It is light weight and folds up really compact making it great for travel. My problem with this sock aid is that the folding/collapsible nature can make it harder to slip the tool with sock over your foot. You might have to adjust the sock tool so that it is flexed out as wide as possible before putting it on your foot and adjust it a bit while putting on your foot. With practice I got a lot better at using it. The two pull straps are nicely thin and wrap around the sock aid tool really nicely for storage. But, I spend a few extra seconds grabbing them and then getting a good grip. These days I use a different sock aid tool that has wide rigid plastic and thick rope handles for home use. Those features make putting on my socks a LOT easier and faster as I make fewer mistakes. I still recommend this sock aid for those who rarely use one or want something more compact and lightweight for travel. It works well; but, might take longer to use. ... show more

I purchased this type of sock helper because it has the ability to put different size socks on the tool. It seems like the plastic ones they sell woud be hard for different size socks and feet. With this one, your foot should be very dry or you will have a hard time getting on your sock and it will put a lot of strain on the straps. It works really well, and is a huge help getting on socks without pain. Yes, the straps will eventually break. But, my husband punched a hole where the strap was, put in a heavy duty string, made a loop and that puts you back in business. Necessity is the mother of invention! Don't give up. ... show more

The fabric started to come apart and had to sew it back together after a couple times of use. After that it's been okay however now the fabric is starting to come apart and frey. Had one review posted and was contacted by the manufacturer to pull the bad review and they would provide a $15.00 gift card, pulled the review and they didn't follow through like their product. Have been struggling for more than a year with a post-op leg disability that prevents flexiion & rotation of my thigh. Not realizing that similar disabilities are not uncommon, I was trying to configure an apparatus to place a sock on one foot. This can't be used with compression socks. The top is so tight that you can't get your foot in pass your toes. If you have a bunion, it is painful to use.

    • This works better than the "plastic" equivalent and is cheaper than "most"
I know someone who had recent major surgery and cannot easily bend to put on socks and various clothing. The person tried the "plastic" sock placement device, which didn't work well. I bought them this product because it operated differently and was less expensive than the various "all plastic" options. It was easy to learn to "operate" (good instructions), it worked well (far better than the all plastic options), and outperformed the more expensive plastic option. The user is very happy with the "sock" device. The "pants device" was similarly easy to learn and operate. Again, the user found this product to work well and easily. Usually products that offer to simplify a task don't work very well...BUT this sock helper is fantastic. Unless you have been in the situation where you can not put your socks on by yourself you wont appreciate the value of this product. I was skeptical until I tried it! Now I am free of asking or waiting for help. The design is simple but works! I definitely recommend this product for anyone who is unable to bend over to put on their socks.
