So had this cam about 3-4 calendar days now and there are some things I like and some things that could be improved a little. Setup was easy and a breeze after holding the power button and releasing the cam started chiming away for a connection. Once the iOS ver of app linked it was a basic easy proc
ess to connect to a network. After a quick glance at which bracket goes with the cam and the solar panel I had both up in no time to a piece of 2x4 and then just mounted that to a garden box with a back screen on the garden box held up by a full 2x4 for good height. Once the cam was ready the view was very good and has a zoom but it is a little average imo but adequate for the price point. Night vision is best in black and white and is crystal clear thought that was a really good feature. So now some hiccups,, This was a little bit error on my part but I mounted the cam at about 34% battery which what the cam was factory sent. The solar panel struggled to maintain this level the first day. Once night came it dropped down and lasted about 4 hours. **So when you get the cam be sure to completely charge it up on a corded charger first. Support confirms that the solar panel is not going to maintain an around the clock usage of the cam. It does not take 10 hrs to charge maybe more like 8 on a wall charger. Next after some hopeless searching ended up completely baffled as to why they didn’t put an instant on off button to the cam in the app. Which I have to say is an annoyance. After some time I realized there was a sleep schedule you can set up to make the cam go into a sleep mode to save the battery. So I did run a power cord up to the cam and charged the battery to 100% and set the cam to come on only after the sun comes up. This kind of defeats the night vision part but I really don’t want to be manually charging the cam everyday. The other thing I noticed is recording a motion you get options up to 20 seconds which is quite short. There might be longer recording available though their subscription but kind of a short leash without a subscription. The app also only lets you sign in the one device at a time so pad and phone at the same time nope you’ll have to sign out of one. There are a few features to tinker with like white light flickering and audio. But I have most of the features turned off now to maximize the battery life. I did add a sd card but have been viewing via cloud until that time runs out. So all in all value for money is good but I have read people having problems after a couple months charging the battery which I haven’t crossed that road yet. But the cam really bothered and deterred the neighbor girl from peeing her 3 dogs in my grass which was the reason for the purchase and for this was well worth it.

best option available without ongoing subscription that includes a solar cell

I researched security cameras extensively. I wanted a camera without ongoing subscription charges, with very good quality free motion detection, easy to install and setup, and with a highly rated app. This camera does have optional paid subscription. Included in the free service is 1 week of cloud da
ta. What they don't say is that it's not a rolling week, but a calendar week from Sunday to Saturday. So on Sunday you have only one day of history, on Tuesday you have 3 days of cloud history. That's only slightly annoying since I've also installed a 128 gb memory card. After 20 days of use I've only used 0.5 gb of the 119 gb available on the 128 gb card. To prevent motion detection alerts that are not relevant to me, such as a car driving by on the street, I pointed the camera down more than the recommended 15 degree angle. I moved it further down each time I got irrelevant alerts. Now it's pointed down sufficiently that I rarely get irrelevant alerts. I've kept the detection sensitivity to the default of medium. It will send alerts for cats and squirrels and once in 20 days for blowing leaves. So now I have limited the number of irrelevant alerts to a reasonable level, WITHOUT PAYING for the option subscription that include artificial intelligence motion detection. While the subscription is not very expensive, it's the principle, I wanted a camera without an ongoing subscription and this camera works fine without a subscription. Mounting and setup took a few minutes, possible about 15. Not difficult at all. The app that goes with this device was the only camera app with a very good rating in the iPhone app store. Rating is 4.8 stars out of 5, with 2300 rating. This was a major selling point as many other security camera's apps had ratings well below 4.0 stars. The app is straightforward and mostly easy to use. It has a few idiosyncrasies but overall it's very good. I've been using the camera for 20 days now and I'm highly satisfied. I've had 2 cat alerts, 3 squirrel alerts, 1 blowing leaf alerts, and one alert that may have been caused by shadows, and about 40 valid alerts. For a $2.99/month subscription that would include artificial intelligence smart alerts I probably could have avoided all irrelevant alerts, but I'm quite satisficed with occasionally looking at a video of a cat or squirrel. I did not want to have to take down the camera periodically to charge, so I purchased the camera/solar cell package. My front door faces due south, so that's the best position for the most sunlight during the day. Most days my camera battery never goes below 100%. On cloudy days I've seen the camera battery go down to 99%, but it's never gone below 99%. Zero maintenance was very important to me, and I've achieved that. The package including the solar cell was $10 more than the camera only option. Most solar cells cost more than $10, and there is no assurance it would be compatible and produce enough power to eliminate the need for manual removal and charging. Overall I'm very pleased with this camera and would highly recommend it. If I ever decide to get one for my side or back door, there is no question I'll get another one of these.

This is the third camera I've gotten for our front door/porch area. After two of the doorbell kind not lasting and not giving me exactly what I wanted I decided to go with a more home security type camera. I already have a doorbell so I don't need that function. I just want to be able to A) See my fr
ont porch area whenever I want. B) Be able to communicate with anyone ringing my doorbell or on my porch. C) Be able to record videos and take pictures and save those. This camera does all 3. It's comes with a month long free trial of their cloud like service which has a few price options. All of which are very affordable. I'm currently using that but you can also insert a micro SD card if you don't want to pay. I live on a busy road and across from a store and restaurant. So there's always cars going by. That made the battery die quickly. In about 5 days actually. Once I learned how to pick what area I wanted to watch and what area to ignore it improved the battery life significantly. I simply chose to ignore the road area. Another thing I love about this camera is that it tells me if it detects a person, a pet a package or a car. And it doesn't end there. It alerts you when a package is moved or taken. You can choose to recognize a vehicle that the camera may pick up on a lot so that you won't get alerts or set the camera off. So myself and my neighbor sometimes park in front of our home instead of in the driveway. My camera can now recognize our vehicles and won't alert me because we are parked out front. And the camera has been very accurate recognizing our vehicles from others. I have another neighbor who just lets their dog out alone and not tethered randomly through the day. Because the dog is elderly and calm I guess they see no harm in it. However, I own a large Great Dane and when I open the door and there's a dog on our porch or sidewalk she will often run out and take whoever is holding the leash with her. Being able to get alerts about pets being detected is a god send. I check the camera before we go out anyway but there have been times I was about to get her ready to go out and got an alert about a pet and it's saved the hassle of getting her excited and then having to make her wait what could be a half hour or more. You also get option to send feedback with every alert. So if you are getting alerts for a pet and it's actually a leaf or something blowing around you can send that feedback in with they clip and alert and it just improves your camera. I have since bought a small solar panel so I no longer have to worry about charging the camera. This camera is a powerhouse. There's so many more things it can do. You can have it light up like a sensor light when it senses movement or you could have an alarm go off when it senses movement. The app for the camera is called VicoHome. It's easy to use. It makes installation a breeze. It has lots of customizable options. The only con for me so far is it doesn't integrate with Alexa. I've been using this for a month and if there's any changes I'll update this review.

The camera so far is good. It has a lot of features and I haven't had problems with it yet. The only issue is to have 30 day storage is you have to get a subscription but most other cameras require one. I like it.

Awesome picture! Love the alarm feature!

en hung outside, no cables needed. HOWEVER, if you plan to have motion detection on 24/7, THIS CAMERA WILL DIE IN 3-4 DAYS & IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOU. I had it on 24/7 when I first got the camera and the battery life went down to almost 21% within not even a week because it kept detecting people walking on the side walk or in front of my stairs and it completely drained the battery. Now, I know that was my fault for bad positioning but even when I moved it to just see the door, it still died to almost 46% within a week. So unless you plan to have it wired up to the charger 24/7 (which makes it not completely wireless anymore) to allow for constant motion detection, this camera won’t be for you. (Unless you’re okay with taking it down every week to charge it, it takes about 8-10 hours for full charge). That’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the battery life sucks. If you do NOT have the motion detection on 24/7 and only want it on when you leave the house or something of that matter however, the battery life lasts months. Also, just remember positioning of the camera too and try to set it only very specifically to where you want the motion to be detected to avoid it catching random unnecessary things!

Be ware when connect to its solar power source...update

The setup was smooth and the wi-fi signal worked well outdoors, it detected street cars passing by. But the problem started when I received the solar panel and after installation and connecting the power cord to the bottom of the device, the app shows the charging sign but NO wi-fi signal was detecte
d. Try to re-connect wi-fi, failed. I need to delete and re-adding the device (fail many times..cloud service connection failed) and also once it successfully connected and I select the solar power source, reinstalled the device to its base, and re-connect the solar power cord.. the wi-fi signal gone AGAIN. Not sure if I need to connect with solar power cord to the device first "before" selecting a solar power source on the app. It's very annoying the way it's solar power set up. So far I still won't be able to set up the device successfully, even I reset to factory mode. Always "cloud service connection fail" message !! Update...I rate two higher stars, since the custom service response very well and have shipped a new camera to replace. I am still waiting for the package and will update the review after installation and evaluate the new camera.

Away with Adds for UPGRADES

Holds charge for 3-4 weeks under normal use; clear pics. Nightcam is average. But the Constant adds trying to get you to BUY MORE SECURITY is for the birds! HOWEVER.... the Company has sent another security cam "on the house", and I cannot ask for anything more. Good service!!

It's working as advertised

Bought 2 outdoor cams 1 PTZ and this one both battery operated. The PTZ battery sucked big time would not hold a charge for more than 3 weeks on second charge soon after an hour of operation the battery dropped an 1/8% within first hour. Both cams were easy to setup and apps worked as advertised. The
Smmvinnr cam is still holding its first charge but I do not have motion active because where cam is located. Motion is decent and I did use it at first and got a lot of notifications. Battery is lil pass 3/4% after a months usage. Great buy for the price!!!
