I wore this hiking in the mountains for three days with weather ranging from cold, rain, sleet to just cold and gale force winds. I stayed warm and comfortable the entire time. I bought this crewneck base layer top in Twilight Blue Heather. It's a beautiful color that gets a lot of compliments. I love everything about this top ... the fit, the feel, the warmth, the quality. It's so easy to wear next to my skin without chafing. It's the first thing I put on in the morning now that winter is here. It gets me warm in no time. I've washed it a few times already and it keeps its shape and machine washes beautifully.

This is my third shirt of this kind from Smartwool and they have been great. I do do was in machine on cold but lay out to dry. I like a bit of room in my fit so got a large,but it is not overly loose—just right. The shirt breaths so if doing something that makes you a bit warm, you still feel comfortable .

This is awesome for hikes! I recently finished a trek through Mont Blanc, where a July blizzard caught me by surprise. This wool provided a warm layer when coupled with a waterproof jacket, while remaining breathable. I’m excited to use this again for outdoor adventures this fall.

This is my second one of these Smartwool base layer shirts. I got both in a large even though I usually wear a medium because the "base layer" part seems to mean form fitting. The large is a good fit for me--not tight but also not baggy and formless. The weight is ideal for wearing from late fall to early spring, even on some pretty nippy days. My first shirt was the pomegranate (a vivid bright red). That's held up pretty well, though I did get a few small holes after 2 years of wear (they are fairly thin shirts) that I've mended. The one I just purchased is copper, which is less of a pumpkin (as it appeared online) and more of a warm rust brown. I like it anyway, but be aware it's more muted and browner than you might think from the photo. I agree with the person who complained about the stupid rainbow stripes on the sleeves--why? That's preventing me from getting more -- that really limits them to casual wear because it's pretty prominent and rules it out for work or dress in my opinion (the style and quality would work for that otherwise.)

Gorgeous color and great slim fit. I have trouble wearing most wool brands, but I love Smartwool - Super soft, zero itch. Very warm, a little thicker than I expected but very flattering. I'm 5'3", 110 and it's perfect.
