I will start by saying that these lights came in the most tangled, ridiculous mess I've ever dealt with. It legitimately took me about 30 minutes to untangle them to a point that they could actually be used. I had to unscrew all the bulbs and work, section by section to untangle them. There was no reason they should have come in a complete rat's nest. That said, once they were untangled, they easily became the highlight of our outdoor decorations. The are absolutely amazing and have tons of awesome functions for lighting. We used a rotating color chasing scheme that placed red after green and rotated through several colors. It looked really awesome on a medium sized tree at the front of our yard. They are super easy to control via the app and there is a fair amount of functions to apply to set. I do wish there was just a red and green theme, but you take what you can get. When I took them down, after we had quite a few nights of heavy rain, a few of the plastic bulbs did retain a bit of water, but it did not impact the function of the lights at all. When I took them down, I unscrewed the ball portion surrounding the LED and emptied the water and screwed it back on, no issues at all.     • Too many cons
These lights were just okay for me. I was looking for customizable lights and these did the job on a basic level, but I had way more cons than pros on my list. What I liked: The app has tons of options for customizing colors and lighting schemes. However, it's a bit complicated to figure out and took some playing around to discover all the modes. Kind of an overkill for me, given the actual results. What I didn't like: 1. The lights came very tangled. Took me a good while to uncoil them. 2. Lengthy lines are the culprits to the tangling problem. At 52.5 ft total line length and only 25 bulbs, there's obviously a lot more line than there are lights. The distance between each bulb is 22", which is too widely spaced for my preference. 3. The kit does not include an adapter plug for the USB interface. This in itself makes me question the "waterproof" claim, as I would not expose a USB connection to the elements without extra protection. 4. The bulbs aren't bright enough. The colors are muted, similar to how solar lighting dulls over time, and it doesn't help that the globes are frosted. 5. Questionable color fidelity. While the app offers a full spectrum of color choices, I didn't find the actual color output to be accurate. I couldn't distinguish the difference when switching between several shades of the same color. This might not be a big deal if you're only after basic holiday combos like I was. But if you're looking for more shade fidelity, it's disappointing. ... show more

The bulbs are small, about 1.5" wide, and not super bright so I'm not sure how well they would do outside. They are perfect for what we needed them for, though. We hung these underneath my daughter's loft bed and the are perfect. The remote control works well. Keep in mind that it is powered by USB, so you will need a USB outlet or brick to use them. These are decent lightweight led decorative string bulbs. The color options are great once get the app installed and connect, which took all of 5 mins. I do wish these were brighter, they just seem like they need 1-2 notches more of brightness to bring them to the next level. We are using as a Christmas light string indoors around our Kitchen they add a nice color with great motion options. For the price they are in line with many others on Amazon, I just wish they were a tad brighter! ... show more

    • Great string light, bulbs are smallish but not big, but fun for party
Despite these lights being small they are bright enough to string outside. This especially worked well around the deck. They aren't big and small enough to still look nice. I didn't realize that these were USB and didn't come with a plug. Not a big issue but I haven't set it up to leave it plugged in for outside overnight. There are plenty of bulbs and they are covered with a white plastic shell. It does prevent it from being brighter. Its dimmable and has lots of variations. The nicest coloring is the pastel color. Lights look like they are packed such that you can easily install them but they are in fact a tangled mess that took me 30 dedicated minutes to straighten out. Lights not really visible during the day, even when very cloudy. Remote doesn't not work consistently. You need the app to get the full function, but figuring out the app can be tricky, trial and error was my approach. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. These lights come with several lively presets and can be customized to your own designs. The app automatically recognized and paired my two strands together. The Smart String Lights would be best to use inside or on a covered porch since the USB plug is NOT waterproof. I installed mine outside but zip tied plastic bags around the plug. The strand did not come with a USB-A charging brick, which is needed for operation. If the plug is ever reconfigured as an outdoor waterproof unit, these would be the best 5-star holiday lights! ... show more
