This set is made better than most of the other sets on here. Nothing feels flimsy. I particularly like that the mallets are molded so I’m not worried about the end coming off & becoming a choking hazard. Egg shakers & the recorder are as good of quality as the ones I use with my students at school. Overall, this is an alright purchase and my little guy loves it. That said, there are issues. 1st off, the xylophone arrived with one of the keys not ringing, like it had a finger touching it when you hit it (muted note) while the rest of the keys had sustained ringing when struck. I could see they drilled some tuning bores into some of the keys on the bottom. Perhaps it negatively affected this one. It's post attachment was affixed the same as the rest so it is left to think the tuning bore did it. Passed inspection? After 2 days, one of the other posts came loose and that key was no longer secure. It did seem "tuned". The recorder seems to half work. Meaning that not all the holes have an effect on the note coming out. So you get some fun from it, and what does a 1 year old really need, right? That's what the manufacturer probably thought in the boardroom. "F it, they get what they get." The cymbals are not a pleasant sound, the timbre is shrill. The rattles and eggs are great, as is the tambourine. THE TRIANGLE AND ITS STRIKING ROD ARE NOT SAFE FOR LITTLE ONES WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO BE SAFE. Pure metal, not smoothed edge cuts, sharp enough to be a little wary. Had I acted in time, perhaps the seller would've made sure that I had a fully working set, but that's on me, too late on checking the return. Overall construction/ materials seem to have enough sturdiness and durability, except the xylophone and it's loose post/muted key. ... show more
