Stumbled into this product and bought it on a whim. Wow, no regrets. This thing is great! Boring, plain old hot dogs suddenly new and exciting again! Pro-tip: read the instructions! It mentions placing the hot dogs in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before using the Slot Dog. Very cold to slightly frozen meat is much easier to cut with a knife because its form and doesn't "squish", and this same principle greatly improved the Slot Dogs performance, and made an already easy-to-use product even easier. This device works well on regular dogs, and even those monster Coney Island style dogs. Instructions say not to use it on bratwurst and uncooked sausage, I can totally see why after using it just once. Cleanup isn't difficult, I turned up the temperature to scald and hosed it down in my sink. I tried hot dogs dry rubbed, and I tried wet dogs too! I smothered mustard or BBQ sauce into the dog grooves and no matter what I try the effect is profound. They come out looking cool and tasting great. The way they puff up into that texture makes a great surface for a heap of chili to sit in, and a great place to capture melty cheese without topping sliding off. Slot Dog is a barbecue game changer for sure!

I used this on some Oscar myer hotdogs right out of the fridge and it worked perfectly. Just push down firmly and rock it back and forth a little and it will cut the skin of the hotdog with no problem. Make sure to push down hard enough so the blades cuts deep. Washing it is a pain as the blades are molded into the plastic so you have to scrub a little bit to get any meat out. Not a deal breaker to not buy it.

I gave this to a gentleman friend of mine, and after he winced and took a step back, he realized what this gizmo does. He absolutely loves it, although it took him a few times using it to get over his flinching when he cross-hatched his edible wieners. He says it makes his hot dogs and sausages even that much more fun to eat and he highly recommends it.

First time I tried it, it didn't really work that good so do yourself a favor and read the box and do as they instruct, and it will work like a charm. What I found was to put the dog, brat whatever in the middle and when pressing down to rock it back and forth and you will get the best scoring for a delicious dog. I can't say enough about it and once you try it every dog you cook will be slotted. Remember to make sure your dogs are cold straight from the fridge and it will work the best that way.

I love grilling and BBQ. Slotted dogs are my favorite! Good butter bread buns and a little home made J Dawgs sauce equals happy family. Tool is simple enough to use, only tip is to put the dogs in the freezer for 20-30 minutes before trying to cut them. I felt the instructions should have reiterated that point a little more. Also start on one side ( think the corner) until you feel the skin/dog cover break then do the other side and roll to the center. Give it shot you won't be disappointed.

This tool works great. We diamond sliced our dogs then pan fried them in bacon grease. Best dogs ever. 👍

We like well-done hot dogs, and this tool was perfect to make more surface area to brown. Just follow the instructions, and don't push too hard. It's not easy to clean, other than just rinsing or soaking it in soapy water - the only way to clean inside the grid is to push a bottle brush through each little hole, which could take a long time. Learning to be happy with it as clean as I can get it without scrubbing.
