The comforter I got was beautiful, so I don't understand the negative reviews. There was no smell, no feathers poking out and the cover is like a polished cotton. It is not plastic feeling. It fluffed right up. I just put it on the bed and shook it a few times. The blue paisley colors are beautiful. I got the CA King for my bed and often use this on my queen beds so there is over hang. Just get this if you are undecided. You can always send it back. Great value.

Four Days to Air Out – But Worth It

What sold me on this down comforter was the (1) RDS certification for responsible sourcing and (2) OEKO-TEX certification and (3) the Sleep Zone brand. However, I almost gave up on it because of the initial horrible odor of feathers that had been tightly compressed in plastic for who-knows-how-long. Down products that I have purchased elsewhere arrived slightly rolled and boxed, not compressed. I did not want to wash this comforter before using unless it was absolutely necessary because laundering can cause premature aging of down. I hung it outside over a deck railing and rotated it in the sun for four days. Three would have been fine, but I just wanted to be sure there were no lingering odors. It fluffed up beautifully. I was happy to find eight (8) loops sewn (in the corners and on the sides) to secure a duvet cover. I like the paisley print fabric, but since we don’t use a top sheet during duvet season (and have been known to spill ice cream on occasion) we need a washable cover. This will be the first down comforter that I have used that has a polyester cover instead of cotton, but as long as it keeps the feathers from poking through and is breathable, it will work. The price is very reasonable. I am curious to know the fill power of the down which is not mentioned in the description from Sleep Zone. The down feels slightly “crunchy” but it does not make any noise.
