  • Screwy lol
This instrument is so cute! I use it in marching band because our colors are green, white, and black. It tunes fairly easily. One thing that has been a slight problem is the screw on the short rod beneath the other rods, the one that holds is responsible for the A flat key (the hockey stick one - left hand pinky). A few weeks after I got this instrument, I realized something sounded funny. The A flat key was also rubbing the key next to it as if it had slid out of position. I looked over the instrument, and found that the screw on the A flat key had come very unscrewed. I was able to fix it myself, but if you don't trust yourself to unscrew all the rods on your instrument to get beneath them, don't do it! I had to put an enormous amount of trust in myself and my hands! However, a few weeks later, it was starting to come unscrewed again. ... show more

  • Great for a beginner, not for an experienced user.
I am not a professional flute/piccolo player, and bought this in order to play piccolo again. This is a great value for the price, however the sound quality isn't the greatest. In the box, I received a cleaning cloth, cleaning rod, hard case, grease, and the piccolo itself. I was surprised to receive the grease as I had read other reviews saying they didn't get it. The piccolo was wrapped in a layer of tissue paper and covered in small plastic sleeves. There weren't any scratches or defects in the finish. When I play it, the notes sound very airy. Also, the case is a nice sturdy hard case, but the inside doesn't hold the piccolo tightly and there isn't much room to keep the cleaning cloth inside. I ended up cutting mine and using about two-thirds for cleaning the metal and the last third with the cleaning rod. On the other hand, this is built really well. I don't feel like it's going to snap in my hands if I hold it too tight, and the keys all work without being hard to close like I've seen with other instruments. This would be good for a beginner as the notes are easy to hit. The color is nice as well - mine looks to be on the "warmer" side of the spectrum while still having that nickel color. All in all, this is a really good value for the price, but don't expect it to be like the more expensive options. If you are a beginner wanting to try the piccolo, this is a good entry-level instrument for not a lot of investment. ... show more

  • Fantastic beginners piccolo
This is a nice piccolo. My daughter was playing the flute, and the senior who was graduating that played the schools piccolo complained about it. So, we bought this inexpensive piccolo for her to take his place when he graduated. It has worked. She is now the solo piccolo player for the school. She loves it. She is more comfortable as a soloist and is loving this instrument. The only thing bad thing is that some of the long hinges along the side have become bent after long use, but the local music store was able to fix them. ... show more

  • Its REALLY NICE!
Don't let anyone tell you its trash because it is not it comes with a really nice case and is very sturdy instrument. The lower register is a little airy but I think it is just because I am needing to support with more air. It is a sky instrument but the picture does not show that. I would say great price! It came in a matter of 3 days and I did the standard shipping time. I personally think its a really good instrument and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. ... show more

  • Good for beginners.
I began on the flute when I joined my school band and learned all the notes and keys. I was required to purchase a piccolo and so I searched Amazon until I came across this one. The sound quality is good and it is easy to play, the only issue I have with it is the material (metal) used to make it is cheap and low quality. It looks good and sounds good but if you are looking for a piccolo for long term use, I would not recommend this one. ... show more

  • PURPLE FLUTE
I purchase this for my sons girl friend she had been putting this on her list for more then a few years and her parent told her she had one and did not need a new one. She loves purple and when I saw this it was a great price, I knew it was what she would love. My son was with her when she opened it he said the look on her face and her Parents face was priceless. Shee is not that bad of a player, she has brought it over here so we could hear her play a tune she practice on. Well worth my time and money for me to make her that happy. ... show more

  • Pads Leaking. Top Fell Off. Could Have Rented for the Price. Look Elsewhere.
I'm dropping my rating to 1 star and here's why. When I first bought it, I thought, wow, it is a lot heavier than I expected, even compared to a flute that is twice the size. It was not too expensive, so I thought it was just the lesser quality materials. It didn't seem to affect the sound too much. The music teacher said it was flat, but I thought it was because it used cheaper materials. I was wrong. We've had this piccolo for less than a year with only one user. The top of the piccolo head has fallen off and more importantly and costly, the pads are now leaking. I'm completely shocked that a musical instrument hasn't lasted even one year. Wasted my money. I have a flute that has been played way more than this by myself and my kids, that has lasted me over 20 years! I completely regret buying this particular piccolo. I could have rented a nicer piccolo for the same price as what I paid per month for this piccolo. Don't waste your money. ... show more
