Description

Sky-Watcher’s AZ-GTi is the perfect tracking platform for those seeking a compact travel mount capable of both Alt-Az Go-To alignment and video timelapse. Boasting a payload capacity of 11lbs, this modular AZ mount can support anything from a small Maksutov or refractor, to a mid-sized DSLR for timelapse photography. Weighing just 8. 6 lbs, the AZ-GTi is the ideal travel mount, easily fitting in carry-on luggage and perfect for grab-and-go situations. Our Maksutov optical tubes deliver refractor-like views and superior contrast while allowing for larger apertures at a fraction of the cost. Using lens elements and reflective mirrors, you’ll benefit from Sky- Watcher’s dedication to quality optics. Sky-Watcher’s SkyMax series features a borosilicate primary and secondary mirror with a quartz overcoat, producing 94% reflectivity. The corrector plate utilizes our signature Metallic High -Transmission Coatings (MHTC), giving visual astronomers professional grade optics to create a unique viewing experience. The AZ-GTi generates it’s own Wifi signal, allowing users to control the telescope directly from their iOS or Android devices. Once connected to the mount, use Sky-Watcher’s SynScan Pro app to align the mount for celestial tracking or the SynScan PTZ app for timelapse photography. The AZ-GTi includes an adjustable aluminium tripod with built in pier extension however, the AZ-GTi can also attach to nearly any photographic tripod using a standard 3. 8”-16 thread. No need for an intervelometer timer with the AZ-GTi! With a 60-second preset exposure setting, the AZ-GTi can trigger a DSLR using the auxiliary shutter release cable. Once the camera is plugged into the mount and a shot is fired, it will continually shoot 60 second exposures until the cable is removed.

  • Works awesomely.
I set it up. Alignment to one star or Jupiter, went perfect. Used the go to, for the nights best viewing, went perfect every time, not perfectly centered but close enough. Used one of my teleview eyepieces 40mm. Saw Jupiter with 4 of it’s moons, Saturns rings, pretty decent, and many stars. I have great plans for this very cool little scope. Plus goes into a portable case. I can take it almost anywhere. Very pleased. ... show more

  • Great scope, slightly overloaded mount.
Summary: The scope is very good. The mount is good. Combined the package is only fair because the scope is a bit too much for the mount. The AZ GTi mount is pretty good. The mount is complex and involves a significant learning curve. Once you get to know how to use the thing, alignment is relatively easy. GoTo accuracy is about par for the course. The more accurate your alignment the better GoTo works. It usually puts me within a couple degrees from the target but that doesn't always mean the target is in the eyepiece. My bigger Celestron doesn't do any better. The mount appears to avoid cord wrap by not rotating more than 360 degrees - smart. The tripod is the weak part of the mount and makes the mount pretty wobbly for the rather heavy 127 Maksutov scope. It works much better with my smaller 72mm refractor. I really love the 127 Mak scope. Collimation was great right out of the box. Image contrast is better than my SCT scopes. I love the views of planets and the moon through this scope. Focusing is smooth. The red-dot is junk so I put a small 6x30 optical finder scope on it. Be aware that the scope that comes with the mount is only for left hand mounting and has a 1.25" diagonal where the scope sold separately is configured for right hand mounting and has a 2" diagonal. ... show more

  • Nice telescope but the AZ GTI has problems
I recently purchased the AZGTI 127 telescope. The telescope is nice but the AZGTI tracker has problems. I. I align the telescope perfectly north and level sometimes it will come close to finding the star but most of the time it would not. Two and a two star alignment still did not help the problem. When trying to find a star sometimes it would go in the opposite direction. In the tracking would work sometimes it would not. I had a return it. ... show more

  • Not working at all.
The scope is good. But the AZ-Gti does not work at all. It's a lemon. I decided to return it.
