The media could not be loaded. This Skil router works perfectly. It allows you to use router bits from 1/4" to 1/2" shank. I love it comes with both bases: plunge and fixed base. Both bases have the vaccum connector. The set up time is minimal and installing the bases is easy and fast. Both bases are sturdy and are very precise once set. The electronic speed controller is WOW!. You just need to select the router type, diameter and the material type and the router fixes the speed and adjuts the power as per your demand while working. A great plus is also the led lighting it shoots at your working area. You can clearly see what you are doing through the clear base. No more guessing work. The router includes and edge guide, which is very sturdy and attachs easily to both bases. Probably, an opportunity area is the power cord. It is kind of short and not so flesxible compare with other major brands. Not a showstopper thought. Bottom line, I am very pleased with this Skil router. I've used them all Triton, Dewalt, Bosch, Makita and yet I buy my 2nd 14 amp Skil router (mdl 1322) Why? because the extra features that come with this router along with the power and stability. I have yet to have a problem with this router. Skil has come along ways to compete with other big name routers such as I listed already. Face it you know as well as I do that you are paying for the "name" on some of these products. In my view I am getting a quality product for a good price with features that don't exist with the some of the other products. Like 14 amp power, LCD speed control, Electronic feedback, Soft start and live tool indicator, LED lights that light up the area where the action is. By the way I'm still using my 1st 14 amp Skil router the 2nd one I have dedicated to my linear table sled and for larger bits. It's very comfortable to use. ... show more

For my first router I can't complain. I have nothing to compare it to but it works well. The light is a huge bonus. It's super strong, never hear it bog down. I need another one with the table!

There is a lot to like about this router set but it's not without it's flaws. I used it with a 2" flattening bit on red oak and that worked ok. You have to take it slow to make sure you don't get bogged down. If it stops you can just flip it off then on and it'll start right back up. The biggest issue is the locking mechanism and height adjustment on the fixed base. The fine tuning doesn't work well and the locking mechanism always seems to be a pain to get right. I used the plunge base today and it worked exceptionally. I haven't been able to get the RPMs adjusted by I could just be dumb. If you're looking for a reasonably priced router set to start learning, this is a good option. ... show more

This is a great value, the cost when on sale can’t be beat. Good quality, easy to use, easy to adjust. Perfect for beginners and veterans alike. Screen helps newbies figure out the RPMs needed for bits and for type of wood. Really a good buy. I would recommend for anyone.

This router is very simple to swap from the fixed base to the plunge base along with awesome course and fine depth adjustments that work great The power is very good along with the speed control that allows you to match the speed to the type of wood to the size of the bit, I don’t think you could get more bang for your buck for a homeowner router. ... show more

This router package is great. I'm really happy with it, especially for the price. I currently own 5 routers and this is my favorite. Many reviews complain that the collet is sized wrong. There's no problem with this router. It has a modern collet that pulls the bit toward the router as you tighten and helps push the bit out when you loosen. This is a "pro," not a "con." You just have to know that's what you have and not think its defective when really it's awesome! The key is that after loosening the collet nut to install your new bit, it will appear to be fully loosened because it gets a little bit tight. But....you have to use a wrench and continue to spin the nut, pushing past this "tightness" and it will loosen further. Now the bit will fit. This is an improvement from older designs. This is something you will find on die Grinders as well. I feel bad for all the people who return this great router because they didn't understand what was going on. If you want a video demonstration of this, look to "Training Hands Academy" YouTube channel (no affiliation to me) and watch his video entitled "Router Bit not Fitting into Your Router - Common Beginner Mistake." I bought this to replace a Porter Cable router that was having issues. This router is much easier to set up and use and have been pleasantly surprised by how well built it is. Very accurate, parts all fit together well and markings are easy to read for plunge routing. Have made three sets of canoe gunnels and every cut has been perfect. Have not used the more expensive Porter Cable for quite a while now. ... show more
